January 4, 2022 Landing Page Complete

This is a significant milestone. After a long hiatus on this project due to redundancy and career changes in real life as a result of Covid times, I finally got back round to this project.

In October 2021 I managed to start doing 20hr+ weeks again.

The app has been completely re-done from ground up and progress has been good. I'm probably way past the point of MVP but I'm using the app daily so if nothing else, I have a free food tracking app that works exactly how I want it to work :)

Anyway... here's a public milestone - the landing page for the project is now live - please check it out.

Closed public beta release will be available before February 2022.

April 17, 2020 Alpha Release to Friends and Family

Distributed the app for iOS via Test Flight.

I learned a lot that I hadn't been aware of;

  • I needed to do more to educate users on the point scoring. In fact, onboarding in general needs more TLC.
  • I needed to educate better that some similar foods are healthier than others
  • A bug that I knew existed and could be tolerated was more frustrating for users than I envisaged
  • Overall, my hypothesis of simply tracking food isn't enough to change behaviour. Aspects of gamification should be introduced to try and nudge users.
  • People didn't like the name 'Lhotse' - there was confusion on how to pronounce it so I should consider renaming the product.

October 16, 2019 Completed a Coursera Course on Chatbots

I reckon chatbots have so much potential on App but haven't yet gained traction. They're much more intuitive than forms so I wanted to learn more about them to see if I could leverage them for my diet tracking app.

I done a course on Diaglowflow (Google's NLP engine) and decided that this was worth trying.
