March 14, 2021 We added auth for OpenID Connect providers

Our first users all required auth to use Lowdefy for production purposes. OpenID Connect is a standard auth strategy supported by most large providers including, Google, Microsft, Auth0. By making it easy for makers to link an OpenID Connect provider, makers can now auth their apps and publish private pages.

We also implemented strategies to run both public and private pages within the same app. Read more here:

March 3, 2021 Launched on Hacker News 🦖

Yesterday we launched Lowdefy on Hacker News and got to the front page! Overall it resulted in 6,700 page views and 38 users giving Lowdefy a try 🌱

At first, our post did not make it to the Show HN post. I emailed HN a day later, and they said that they will resubmit it to the new page. The second time we were lucky and our post surfaced to the Show HN and to the main page for a few hours. We got 106 upvotes on HN and 145 new stars on Github 🥳

Next time we will try to do the following to encourage more conversations:

  • We did not expect them to repost it, and were caught off guard and could not respond to comments immediately. It is essential to respond in less than 3 minutes to make sure a conversation gets started.
  • When responding to feedback, make sure to ask a question or two to best encourage conversation.

More comments will boost your post.

We are really happy with the feedback we got, it validated our idea, and we are looking forward to seeing what others can build using Lowdefy 🌈
