Hey Deborah! Loving all the product updates you are putting out!
What role did you hire for? And you mentioned earlier tight finances, how have you managed to find the money?

Thanks Rosie! I needed/need assistants for delegatable tasks as I work on a master guide to the LSAT! It doesn't show up on my course's stripe account, but I have a razor thin budget from a few private tutoring students who go on to pay directly for the course. Plus help from family to survive, I literally live on less than 1K, lol.

I'm in edtech as well. Facebook (private) groups have been a goldmine of very qualified traffic. The key is to offer something free and get them in your mailing list and go from there.

Hi again Macie, wow these groups might be very useful!! I've just joined one that seems to have great potential leads!

Hi, thank you! I will explore those groups

Yeah, it's a little tedious. Have to get approved by the admins. But just bulk join everyday until you hit the FB limit and it'll start to payoff!

I don't have the domain expertise to help you. But I want you to succeed. Take care of yourself first. If you need to get a job or pivot it's ok. You can still do this.
I'm not sure if I'm helping or if this is against the hacker spirit. I'm just saying there are many roads forward.
Now onto your product. You're selling knowledge. Read dotcom secrets (Russell Brunson). He talks a lot about deconstructing funnels. This technique is heavily used by successful course sellers (stackingthebricks, amazing seller, etc). No comment on their content. But what seems to work is lots of content on different mediums (podcasts, website, email campaigns, ads, social) to drive traffic to landing pages. The content is driving different parts of the funnel (or different funnels), and the funnel has multiple products to offer to maximise value. The amount of content is not to be underestimated.
When I look at your site, I think it could be tweaked to be much stronger with some very minor changes. Your CTA on top should be low friction. Perhaps offer a free guide if the visitor enters their email address. Get them into a drip campaign. Also, the testimonials should be more specific - "Edward: I passed the LSAT on my first try with a score of x". With that being said, the CTAs don't mean much if you can't get people to a page (mentioned above). I'd recommend the buffer and online geniuses slack communities to keep up to date on this, in addition to some of the popular marketing tool websites.
If you really want to go all-in on this, is there something else you can sell? Can you sell 1-on-1 tutoring locally or via video conference? How about a personalised reminder or mock quiz sessions to hold people accountable? Maybe that would be a way to get some immediate cash flow and possibly learn some new angles to pursue directly from student's needs. Many universities have forums or boards to post services. (side note: many students outright pirate books)

Thank you Steven! I really needed the encouragement. Today, I'll be looking at ways to make some cash on the side before this can gain speed.
I've tried and will try harder to offer instant explanations/ quick online tutoring. I feel like students would find that handy because I definitely wanted a service like that. But the main problem is getting the exposure/earning trust with enough people. I will read those books you've recommended, books have helped a lot lately.
Once I add the real test questions to the course, I'll have more confidence to aggressively reach out to even more people. I think that's been a weakness against my competition, too.
Thank you for the idea for mock quizzes and an easier marketing signup. Like I said, my issue has been dealing with time and pressure of doing it all with no budget, so hopefully a side gig will help me afford to be more patient.

Why is it hard to make a first sale specifically?

I've made sales, but not recently because I don't have enough content for SEO, I need help making contacts on college campuses, I need a referral program in place... I'm not getting enough visitors... I have a plan, but it just takes time and work to get it together.
