October 4, 2022 Ups, downs, and changes

I grew MSB to $1,500 MRR.

Then, I took a month away from "things that don't scale" like manually helping my users get the most out of the platform.

I churned all the way down to $500 MRR in that month, a month I was focused on automating what I had been doing manually. It sucked.

I took a major step back. After doing a lot of the "Small Bets" work in Daniel Vassallo's community, I started tuning into what people wanted from me, instead of just what I wanted to build for the masses.

I've been doing a lot of custom sales hacking. It's led to two $500/m opportunities and a one-time project for $1,500. No money in the bank yet, but if this is how things look 4 days into October, I'm happy.

After creating connections based on my sales content, I've got a lot of opportunity I can work with. I'm letting MSB run on autopilot while I pull this agency angle off the ground.

I'd still love to do saas - I can see myself building tools to support my sales work and then spinning them out as products if they are successful.

March 24, 2022 Passed 20 customers, $600 MRR

Starting to feel like I'm making better decisions and prioritizations, with the third green month in a row. It didn't feel that way through the red and yellow months.

I've had success with doing many calls and getting trialers afterwards. I have them put a card down, I lengthen their trial, and put a calendar invite on the board before it ends to gather their feedback.

I'm still hunting for my first team deal. While I've got multiple people at companies using, I want to sell that multi-hundred dollar deal that makes a huge impact on my MRR.

I pushed two integrations this month that are meaningful to my users and my own usage dogfooding the platform.

My hair is on fire a bit, hoping to smooth out bugs and focus on sales.

After pivoting the biz in October to solve a slightly different problem for my best set of customers, I feel like the business is finally starting to move without me pushing as hard.
