1000 users 🎉

It clearly wasn’t easy - especially with the Google approval process - and it’s still a long way to go, but we have reached 1000 users on Mailmeteor.com today.

Being focus, motivated and love what you do. That clearly helps. But if like me, you also have the chance to work with a rocket-star partner, you will move mountains.

    Great start. Keep going!

This definitely looks like a good mix of simple interface (I always like Spreadsheet like UI - people just get it) and productivity. Will try this when we need personalized emailing.

Hey, congrats. i saw that you got Byte dance as a client . This is really impressive . can you bit explain about how you got them?

This is the magic of Internet. We've got people signing up from all around the world and sometimes converting to paid users because they love the product. Sometimes you even wonder how they'd find you, most probably thanks to combination of factors (word of mouth, seo, outbound sales...). The best strategy until now has been doing things that don't scale and caring about our users.

Congratulations! I would love to learn which acquisition channel worked best for you to reach 1000 users?

    1. 3

      Hey @MakerGari,

Mailmeteor is distributed on the Gsuite marketplace, which is our main acquisition channel. It works kind of like the Appstore or Google Play and allows Mailmeteor to be used by people all around the world. Just yesterday, we've had clients from the US, Brasil, Kenya or Japan! Thus, we care about Mailmeteor's reputation on the Gsuite marketplace to climb up the ladder in the search ranking. We offer any of our users to double their quota when they leave constructive feedback on Mailmeteor's page.

Apart from the Gsuite marketplace, our growth has been pretty much organic thanks to SEO optimization, a few posts on IndieHackers and other forums, a listing on Betalist... Since we want to build a rock solid product we are scaling rapidly but not too fast, which is why we have not been doing outbound efforts at the moment.

This is the magic of the internet: even though Mailmeteor was unknown at the beginning, people installed the app and recommended it to their colleagues or friends! It's rather easy to say afterwise, but making a product that people love is a great way to ensure growth for your project.

What kind of seo optimisations did you do? My page just never appear on google search ( even after submitting sitemap)

        1. 1

This is normal at the beginning, we also need to improve Mailmeteor's SEO ranking on Google ;-)

          A few tips:

          • Website title should include your brand and most important keyword
          • One H1 by page
          • Put emphasis on keywords with <strong>
          • Add meta keywords to your page
          • Add site map and robot.txt
          • Review your website speed, optimize it

Find the right keywords, especially long tail keywords with low competition (with the help of Google suggestion, Youtube suggestion, Reddit...).

Then, try to spread the word on the website with great popularity such as IH or other forums (Quora, Reddit, ...). Once the Google robot will be able to connect the dots, you will go up in the rankings.

Useful SEO free tools to begin with: Google Analytics, Ubersuggest, Answerthepublic, Google speeding site, Google search console, Google trends

These are really some basic recommendations, no worries if it takes a few days to appear in the result (7-10 days). Keep up the good work!

          1. 2

@Cuireuncroco Thank you for this wealth of information on Gsuite marketplace and SEO optimization.

          2. 1

Thank you for the tips ! Do you refer to any sources of information since SEO strategies seem to change over time

            1. 1

Sure, I took some classes offered by Google on SEO. Surely I don't pretend to be an expert, but these are great ways to start improving your efforts. SEO is about 200 hundreds ways of reducing Google's crawling robot efforts, if you do the 200 right, you'll climb fast in the rankings!

Hi Corentin - does your tool work well with gmail alias accounts?

    1. 1

      Hi @colaba
No not yet, but depending on the user demand, we may implement this feature. The reason why we don’t use alias at the moment is because Mailmeteor does not require permissions access to you Gmail sensitive data and settings.

      1. 1

Darn it. To provide context as to why this could be valuable to you - my email is hosted with outlook - I add it as an alias so that I can use products that only work with Gmail. $14k is a hell of a lot though.

        1. 1

No worries though, we will take time to find a workaround. Will warn you when it is implemented ;-)

How is your product different from GMass?

    1. 2

      Hey @AltonS

Mailmeteor can be considered as the best alternative to Gmass.

      Here are 3 reasons why:

      1. Mailmeteor offers twice more free quota than Gmass (100 vs 50 emails a day)
      2. Mailmeteor does not require access to your Gmail data (while Gmass requires to view your email messages when the add-on is running)
      3. Mailmeteor is more affordable (pricing starts at $4.99 / month, compared to the minimal Gmass plan including their footer in email at $8.95 / month).

To Gmass credits, Ajay and his team are doing great, like the recent UI improvement, but I personally much prefer the experience on Mailmeteor. It's way less complicated and scary to use, even if it offers less features.

I'll let you try and decide ;-)

      Hey @cris7fe,
Yes we did pass several audits from Google to ensure Mailmeteor is secure and reliable. However we managed to avoid the audit from their third party security partners. It was way too expensive ($14k after negotiation). We did so by ensuring Mailmeteor dos not access any sensitive email data at all time, which in the end is a key differentiator compared to competitors.
