Mapa Wyznacz Trase

A few months ago I noticed a gap: most distance/route calculators online were either cluttered with ads, required sign-ups, or only available in English — leaving non-English speaking travelers across Europe with a poor experience.

So I built Mapa Wyznacz Trase — a free, no-registration tool that calculates driving distance, travel time, elevation profiles, fuel costs, and full route maps.

What started as a simple calculator has grown into a much bigger project:

- Google Maps JS API integration with route alternatives and turn-by-turn directions

- Elevation profiles (SVG-rendered)

- GPX export for hikers/cyclists

- Weather overlay along the route

- Flight distance mode with real airport detection

- Full translation coverage across 28 languages (built via a custom WordPress plugin with a shortcode system)

The biggest challenge has been SEO at scale — creating consistent, high-quality landing pages for each language/market while keeping page weight and CSS crawl budget under control. I ended up building a unified CSS class system (mapa-*) to keep every language page consistent without duplicating styles.

Still actively building — currently working on completing translation coverage and improving mobile layout. Would love feedback from anyone who's tackled multilingual SEO or Google Maps API projects before.
