September 5, 2020 1000 users

We are very happy to say that today we have reached 1000 registered users at our app Maplo!

It's incredible to see how download reports from Google Play Store and AppStore grow from lineal to exponential since we started working on SEO to improve our web page. Those 1k users were totally organic!

Our next goal it's to take care of our current users, listen them and build together the best app to keep our loved ones safe.

Thanks IndieHackers

August 18, 2020 Got our first paid subscription!

After a couple days since our app was published at Google and iOS stores, we got a couple subscriptions, but they cancelled it when the free trial expires. Nonetheless, today after the free trial ends, we got our first paid subscription!
Now, we are working in more features to keep them subscribing it.

August 2, 2020 Finished our App

Took us less than 8 week to finish our first version, including business model, planning, logo and app design, coding the app, landing page, server deployment. We choose an hybrid tech to decrease Android and iOS development times (don't tell this to my non-hybrid developer friends, they didn't notice the difference).

And at the end, all of this was nothing in compare of our journey to upload the app to Google and Apple Stores, was a mix of frustrations and laughs, because we got a lots of issues on the way trying to figure it out all the terms and conditions for both stores, but after a lot of readings, tutorials, emails and phone calls to support, we are finally available on Google Play and App Store!

January 30, 2020 Landing page released

We take a pause for a long week of working on the prototype of the App, to design a simple version of the landing page. Even without screenshots of the final version of the app, we use a couple mocks to show how we expect the app will looks like.

Today we launch the landing page.

For the next weeks we will be checking for some SEO improves; creating more content, better texts and accessibility. And of course, we will take real screenshots of the app.

    Hi Lucas,

    First of all, congrats! 🎉

Lots of dedication always pays off in the end. Great job!

I sometimes create custom-made website themes for my business buildfaster.co. I saw your landing page recently. I think that your app looks very well done and the content is superb. However the landing page doesn't reflect that.

Would you be interested in collaborating with me to create a custom theme for your app? All I would need from you are the assets/images/content.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Cool, thanks. I have a couple App landing page templates on BuildFaster right now and if you would prefer a custom theme, feel free to let me know.

I'm also giving out a 25% promo code for all themes this week. Just use "aktdbmz" and the deal is yours :)

For sure, in the next iteration of the landing page we are going to use this promo code. Thank you again :)

Hi Lucas. Have you thought about the new iteration of your landing page?

Sounds good. Let me know if I can clarify anything else for you.

January 1, 2020 Maplo first steps

I was planing my vacations after my cycle on my last startup ends. But as a Entrepreneur the desire of keep creating things, stopped my vacations plans earlier to find a problem that needs to be solved.

Every night, I got some anxious attacks waiting for my significant other to come back from work. We live in a complicated city, where the public transport is not a place to take out your phone from your pocket. I can't call or text her for the fear that she might be robbed, also it was painful not knowing if she was okay.

We searched for a couple Family Locator apps to solve this issue, but she's an Apple fan and I'm an Android guy. We filter our search for apps that works on both devices, we try a couple, but we remove those with a lot of Ads or those that have oversaturated features, I mean, we are looking for "family locator app", I don't want to rank gas prices near me.

At the end, we didn't find the app we needed. As a software engineer this is an opportunity not a problem. Let's do it, it's time to make my own Family locator app.
