As a dev, it's very tempting to approach a new product idea from a coding perspective. This time round however I'm resisting the temptation until I talk to some real people.

The idea behind MappyMapMap is to create interactive maps for small events such as art exhibitions. Visitors to the venue can load up the map on their phones, and get a birdseye view of the space they're in, as well as get more information about the features in that space.

Essentially I'm looking for anyone who is running a small event, so today I got in contact with an artist running a small exhibition in London. I sent a simple email asking whether they'd be interested in a map for their event, and attached an example map I'd previously made.

I find reaching out to real people (especially potential customers) really helps me weave a narrative around what I'm doing. It'll probably be a few more emails to a few different people until I get some feedback but here's hoping 🤞

November 7, 2019 First step

Listed my product idea on IndieHackers today..

If you're starting from an idea and have no idea what's going to come of it (like me), just getting the concept out of your head and into words makes it feel more real, and that's fine for a first step.

All I have at the moment is a name and a concept, and I'm absolutely not sure about the name! Still, its way too early for details like that to start slowing things down!

Anyway, once I find a target market I'll probably change it to something a bit more techy, or maybe I'll stick (it's got a nice ring). Let's see...
