Mapthos

No-code interactive maps with built-in AI

January 2, 2026 I’m building Mapthos, a no-code map tool because working with maps is still painful

I’ve been working with maps on and off for years. Research, comparisons between countries, simple visual explanations, presentations.

And every time it was the same story.

You open a heavy GIS tool.
You google definitions of regions.
You double-check borders.
You fight the UI instead of thinking.

Even simple questions slow you down.

Which countries belong to the Balkans?
How does one metric compare across regions?
What changes if I zoom out or focus on a city?

This friction adds up. And it kills momentum.

So I started building Mapthos.

What Mapthos is

Mapthos is a no-code platform for creating and analyzing interactive data maps.

You open it in the browser and start working immediately.

No GIS skills.
No setup.
No complex workflows.

The core idea is simple:
Start with correct geography first, then add intelligence on top.

Borders are real.
Regions are consistent.
Scale doesn’t break things.

Only after that does AI step in.

How AI is used (and how it’s not)

I didn’t want AI that guesses geography.

Mapthos doesn’t hallucinate borders or invent regions.

AI here helps with:

  • selecting regions

  • comparing data

  • spotting patterns

  • reducing repetitive steps

It removes friction, not structure.

You spend less time checking if something is correct and more time thinking about what it means.

Who it’s for

Right now Mapthos is mostly for:

  • researchers

  • educators

  • indie builders

  • curious people who think visually

If you ever needed a map to explain something and thought “this should be easier”, you’re probably the target user.

Current stage

Mapthos is in beta.

No revenue yet.
About 10 early users.
Still shaping the product.

I’m focusing on:

  • faster workflows

  • better AI assistance

  • clearer storytelling with maps

Why I’m posting here

I’m not launching.
I’m not selling anything yet.

I want feedback from people who build things.

If you:

  • work with maps

  • do research

  • teach

  • build no-code tools

  • or just hate unnecessary complexity

I’d love to hear:

  • what frustrates you about maps

  • what you’d want a tool like this to do

  • what feels missing from current solutions

Building Mapthos is very much an ongoing process.
This post is part of that.

Thanks for reading.

About

Maps are great for thinking, but the tools around them are often slow and overcomplicated. Mapthos exists to make working with maps simple, fast, and accessible without GIS.
