Marketeze - Hook Generator & Scorer

Turn weak hooks into scroll-stoppers

Visit Website
December 30, 2025 I built an AI that roasts your video hooks and generates viral alternatives. 78 signups and Β£150 revenue in week 1. Here's what I learned.

The Problem I Couldn't Ignore

Three months ago, I was scrolling TikTok and noticed something brutal: incredible content dying in the first 3 seconds because of weak hooks.

Creators were spending hours on videos, posting blindly, and hoping something would stick. No feedback. No data. Just crossing their fingers.

The insight: 97% of hooks score under 50 on scroll-stopping power. Most creators have no idea theirs is one of them until it's too late.

What I Built

Marketeze AI - An AI-powered hook analyzer that:

  • Scores your video hook 1-100 on scroll-stopping power

  • Shows exactly why it fails (attention, curiosity, clarity, emotion, relevance)

  • Generates 10 viral alternatives using proven frameworks

  • Works for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, LinkedIn

  • Supports any language

The pitch: Stop posting and praying. Know what works before you hit publish.

Week 1 Metrics (launched 7 days ago)

πŸ“Š Signups: 78
πŸ’° Revenue: Β£150 (~$190 USD)
⚑ Free trials used: 390 hook analyses
πŸ“ˆ Avg improvement: +47 points per hook
🎯 Conversion rate: ~5% (free β†’ paid)

Pricing:

  • Β£7.99/month (Pro Monthly)

  • Β£49/year (Pro Annual)

  • Β£129 one-time (Lifetime)

5 free analyses, then paywall.

What Actually Worked

1. Brutal Honesty as a Feature

Everyone sugarcoats feedback. Our AI doesn't. If your hook scores 32, we tell you it's weak and show you exactly why. Users love this.

Key learning: People don't want encouragement from AI. They want truth.

2. Show, Don't Tell

Instead of explaining features, I showed before/after transformations:

  • "Find out why your hooks aren't working" (scores 42)

  • "I analyzed 1,000 viral TikToks and found the 3-second pattern that gets 10x more views" (scores 83)

+41 points. That's the entire pitch.

3. The "Try It Free" Conversion Path

5 free analyses is the sweet spot. Enough to see value, not enough to never upgrade. 5% of free users converted to paid within the week.

4. Multi-Platform from Day 1

I didn't niche down to just TikTok. Built for all short-form platforms immediately. Turns out YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn creators need this just as much.

What Didn't Work

1. Generic AI Responses

First version generated bland alternatives. "Want to know the secret?" type garbage. Had to implement strategy-specific generation (curiosity gaps, pattern interrupts, stakes) to make alternatives actually useful.

2. Being Too Nice

Early calibration had everything scoring 60-80. Useless. Recalibrated against real viral video data. Now the median score is 45. Much more helpful.

3. Over-explaining

Original landing page had paragraphs explaining how it works. Stripped it down to: Enter hook β†’ Get score β†’ See alternatives. Conversions doubled.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: Next.js 16, React, TailwindCSS, TypeScript

  • Backend: Node.js, PostgreSQL

  • AI: Claude Sonnet 4.5 (custom prompt engineering)

  • Payments: Stripe

  • Hosting: Vercel

  • Analytics: Custom implementation

Total build time: 6 weeks (solo founder, side project)

Biggest Challenges

1. API costs: Running Claude Sonnet 4.5 for every analysis adds up fast. Had to implement smart caching and prompt optimization to keep margins healthy.

2. Calibration: Making the AI actually accurate took 100+ test iterations against real video performance data.

3. Fighting impostor syndrome: Charging Β£8/month felt scary. Turns out creators happily pay for tools that work.

What I'm Learning About the Market

The hook economy is real. I've now analyzed 1000+ hooks and the patterns are clear:

  • 72% of hooks are too vague ("Want to know something crazy?")

  • 51% bury the value ("In today's video we're going to...")

  • 83% lack emotional hooks or curiosity gaps

  • Only 3% score above 75 (the viral threshold)

Creators know their hooks are important. They just don't know how to make them better. That's the gap.

What's Next

Short term (Q1 2026):

  • Add video upload analysis (analyze hooks directly from video files)

  • A/B testing recommendations (which alternative to test first)

  • Team collaboration features

Medium term (Q2+ 2026):

  • Performance tracking (connect to creator accounts, correlate scores with actual views)

  • Full script analysis beyond just hooks

  • AI-powered thumbnail testing

Long term:

  • Build the complete "pre-flight check" for content creators

  • Expand to long-form content (YouTube, podcasts)

Questions for the Community

  1. Pricing: Is Β£7.99/month too cheap? Should I be charging more for this value?

  2. Feature priority: What would make this 10x more valuable for you?

  3. Distribution: Besides Product Hunt (already launched), where should I focus for reaching content creators?

  4. Expansion: Should I niche down to one platform first or keep multi-platform?

My Ask

If you're a content creator or know any, I'd love your feedback. 5 free analyses, no credit card required: πŸ‘‰ https://www.marketeze.ai/signup

Congrats on the launch, looks solid. How are you currently thinking about acquiring early users and gathering feedback?

About

As content creators, we saw thousands of talented people spending hours creating great content that died in the first 3 seconds because of weak hooks. The problem wasn't the content - it was the hooks
