MarketScope
Your Shortcut to Market Research
Most startup ideas don’t fail because they’re bad.
They fail because founders build without knowing what already exists, what actually works, and where the gaps really are.
I learned this the hard way.
Like many indie builders, I’ve spent time analyzing ideas on Reddit, Twitter (X), and startup forums. I noticed a pattern: people repeatedly reinvent the same ideas, unaware that similar products already exist—or worse, that those products failed for very specific reasons.
That’s when I started building MarketScope.
The Problem I Kept Seeing
When someone has a new idea, they usually do one of three things:
Ask on Reddit: “Is this idea worth it?”
Google randomly and scroll endlessly.
Ignore research and build anyway.
None of these are efficient.
What’s missing is a structured way to compare an idea against existing products, understand positioning, and spot genuine opportunities.
MarketScope is my attempt to fix that.
What MarketScope Does
MarketScope helps founders:
Compare a new idea with existing apps/products
See how similar products position themselves
Identify gaps, overlaps, and missed opportunities
Avoid building blindly
This is not about killing ideas. It’s about refining them before months of effort are wasted.
Why I’m Building This as an Indie
I’m not building MarketScope because it’s trendy. I’m building it because I needed it myself. I’ve worked mostly through internships and short full-time roles, so I know how costly wrong bets are when you don’t have endless runway. Every hour matters.
MarketScope is being built with a few principles:
Clarity over hype
Research over assumptions
Slow validation over blind execution
MarketScope is not:
An idea generator
A pitch deck builder
A “get rich quick” SaaS
It’s a thinking tool.
If you enjoy analyzing markets, understanding competitors, and making informed decisions, this is for you.
