I built a local-first Chrome bookmark manager because my bookmarks became impossible to search

For years, I kept saving useful links into Chrome bookmarks:

- documentation

- product references

- design inspiration

- research articles

- tools I use once every few months

- random “this might be useful later” pages

Eventually, the bookmark bar and folder tree stopped working.

The problem was not that I needed another cloud knowledge base. I already had the links saved. I just could not reliably find them again.

So I built MarkHub.

MarkHub is a local-first Chrome bookmark manager extension focused on fast bookmark retrieval.

Current features:

- Fast search by bookmark title or URL

- Local bookmark indexing

- Chrome bookmark tree integration

- Folder-aware browsing

- Import/export support

- No required account

- No forced cloud workspace

The product is intentionally narrow right now.

It is not a cross-browser sync platform.

It is not an AI knowledge base.

It is not trying to replace Chrome bookmarks with a SaaS dashboard.

The goal is simpler:

Make Chrome bookmarks useful again for people with hundreds or thousands of saved links.

I am also working on a Bookmark Health Center next, focused on:

- duplicate bookmark detection

- broken link scanning

- finding bookmarks that were saved but never opened

I think bookmark tools often optimize for saving more. I want MarkHub to optimize for maintaining, searching, and recovering what you already saved.
