Learn Morse Code the Fast Way

July 10, 2020 Soft launch!!

Master CW is officially in business! Anyone interested in starting to learn Morse code, or expand their skills, can sign up and start practicing.

I've started doing some usability testing with friends and family, and approaching some users who have expressed interest.

My goals for the next week or two are to slowly but surely put the word out and start marketing the service at the places that I know I can reach my target users, and get their honest feedback on how well the product fits their needs.

On a personal level, it's a great feeling to transition from working on an MVP to actually taking it to market!

June 29, 2020 Completed All Initial Features

Over the past few weeks I've refocused my efforts on minimizing the product to its core features in terms of product design, user experience and technical implementation.

Master CW is now feature complete with the goal of stepping out of stealth mode and starting to get feedback from users. This is also important since all prospective billing services want to review a working product before approving and enabling your live billing account.

I probably have a few more hours of work to polish all the user flows, and integrate with the billing provider, but the goal is to start pulling in prospective users over the next week or two.

June 7, 2020 Created a Product Page on Indie Hackers

How meta... ;)

Decided to start document my progress on Indie Hackers. It will help me focus my current efforts, hold me accountable to myself and the community on my progress, and be a nice gift to myself when I'll want to look back and be nostalgic about how it all began.

Good luck Yuval, interested to see how you implement this!

May 24, 2020 Hired a Designer

I decided I need to have a proper logo for the service, so I hired a designer who I knew from a previous project to make a nice logo!

After some back and forth on inspirations, and what I would like the logo to convey, she started working on the graphics design.

May 16, 2020 First Git Commit

Took me one day to figure out I wanted to start working on this project, and it all starts with a single Git commit!

I started off by creating a simple web-based component that can play morse characters and have visual cues for showing which character is being played at the moment.

Didn't take me long to have a nice PoC based on modern WebAudio APIs.

About

Master CW was built initially for myself. As an amateur radio operator learning morse code (CW), I figured there's a great opportunity to build a modern web-based service to help other operators learn morse code.
