Math App
Simple math app built by a homeschooling dad
Began coding the app. Deployed it immediately to a subdomain of my CurriculumFor.Life domain, which is to be the home for a much larger project, of which this Math App constitutes one small element.
I'm building this in SvelteKit, with TailwindCSS, and have deployed on Vercel. I'm building the backend in Supabase.
As of today, March 29, this is very much an early Work-In-Progress. But it's working: I can construct math worksheet using the four basic operations, of a variable number of problems, with random values, with an assigned number of digits per value. You can show/hide the answers in the UI and adjust number of columns.
On the backend I've made the basic connection, saving and loading worksheets. I will soon be adding user auth.
With the addition of several more features this app will begin to be useful and useable. One of the core features is to generate printable worksheets, so I'll need to look at how to style and process a page for that.
One of the challenges of homeschooling is coming up with the written work assignments. I got a subscription to education.com for printable worksheets, but it was very expensive. I thought I could make something that was more suited to my needs (and perhaps other parents' as well). I've taken inspiration from the excellent UI design of keybr.com (an excellent typing app which my daughter immediately loved!) to try to make this extremely focused, direct and low-effort to make math worksheets.

I'm homeschooling my daughter and I wanted a better way (more efficient, engaging, and consistent) of coming up with math worksheets and exercises for her.
