January 28, 2026 MathGPT Tutoring Mode

Just shipped a major update to MathGPT

We’ve added a new tutoring mode to our core math solver, and it changes how students interact with math.

Most tools stop at giving answers. Our math solver focuses on teaching. Students can type, write, or draw a problem and get step by step reasoning, hints, and guidance that adjusts to their skill level instead of jumping straight to the result.

What’s inside
• A math solver that breaks down every step clearly
• Interactive graphs to make equations and functions easier to understand
• An AI tutor that guides learning like a real teacher
• Short AI generated videos for visual learners

MathGPT is built for students who want to actually learn, not just copy solutions. The tutoring mode brings solving, visualization, and explanation into one flow.

Still early, iterating fast, and learning from users.
Would love thoughts from the Indie Hackers community on where this math solver should go next.

December 29, 2025 I Built MathGPT After Getting Left Behind in a Hall of 300 Students

My reason for building https://MathGPT.today is simple: I know what it feels like to be stuck and have nobody to help.

Picture a huge lecture hall with 300+ students. The professor is flying through slides like it’s a race. The explanations are vague, the pace is brutal, and there’s no real time for questions. If you try to stop them, you feel like you’re slowing everyone down. If you don’t stop them, you fall behind.

You look around for help. Classmates are busy, competitive, or just not interested. The few “top students” guard their notes like secrets. Office hours are limited, and even when you go, the answer can be: “You should already know this, it’s a prerequisite.” But the prerequisite they expect is not the one you actually learned. Sometimes they assume you know extra topics, or they jump straight to advanced functions and skip the basics.

So you’re sitting there with a problem you genuinely want to understand, but the system is built for the people who already understand it.

That’s where MathGPT comes from.

I wanted a tool that doesn’t judge you, doesn’t rush you, and doesn’t hide steps. Something you can use the moment you get stuck, right when the lecture ends and you’re staring at the homework. You type the exact question, and it walks you through the reasoning step by step like a patient tutor. Not just the final answer, but the “why,” the method, and the pattern so you can actually learn it.

MathGPT exists for students who are willing to work hard, but don’t have the support they should have had in the first place. For anyone who’s been in that crowded hall, watching slides move too fast, thinking: “I’m trying, but I need someone to explain it properly.”

That’s the whole point. Make math simple, and make learning fair.

About

MathGPT exists because too many students get stuck in math and end up feeling like they are “bad at it” when what they really need is a clear explanation. I’m building MathGPT to make math feel simple and learnable.
