Gumroad? Try Mavenseed instead!
by Nick HaskinsThe truth is, we've really been fumbling with how to price Mavenseed over the last year. What we came to realize is that it's not really fair to ask people to pay for a service when they aren't even making money yet!
So we flipped the script.
Mavenseed is now free. We just collect an 8% transaction fee. If you don't grow, we don't grow. It's that simple!
P.S - Mavenseed is built by a team who's been selling courses and digital downloads for many years. We built Mavenseed as the new home for CG Cookie. But instead of building a custom CMS for us, we built it for everyone!

What would you say your main strengths are vs Gumroad?

Hey there, Gumroad is a great platform doing solid things. I'm not sure how our platform compares apples to apples, though I can share why we're building Mavenseed.
Mavenseed is fortunate to be in it's own lane, with the primary mission to scratch our own itch; building a new CMS for our http://cgcookie.com project. The difference is we're not building it solely for us. Early on we decided to experiment by opening it up for others to build their own digital communities similar to CG Cookie, or completely different.

Why did your revenue drop?
Current users churned out or they downgraded to the free plans and aren't making sales yet?

If we even had users to churn! :)
We've had less than ten paying users sign up over the last year. The barrier to entry was too high, financially speaking.
