Meilė Tau - Daily Love Reminders for Couples & Long Distance

July 10, 2026 I built a love notes widget for couples — starting with my husband

Built this because I kept forgetting to send my husband something sweet during busy days. It's a simple home screen widget — one real message a day and real time messages, with reactions when they respond.

Works great for long-distance couples too. If you forget to write something, there's a reminder plus 365 default messages to fall back on.

First real project I've shipped — would love any feedback! 🙂

One thing I'd keep exploring is whether the product is helping people send messages or helping them avoid letting a relationship drift because life gets busy.

Those lead to very different positioning. The widget is the mechanism, but protecting small moments of connection feels like the reason someone would keep it on their home screen.

It's the second one — and you put it more clearly than I have.

There are two roles, reader and writer. The couple picks who's who; it's not tied to a gender. The reader's side is deliberately minimal — they receive the new day's note at 00:01 (time is adjustable) and react with an emoji. That's all.

Everything else sits with the writer: real-time notes (the reader gets a notification and the widget updates instantly), a calendar to prepare messages a month or a year ahead, a reminder if they're busy, and 365 default messages so a day is never empty.

That's the point — the design assumes the writer will have bad days, and the ritual holds anyway. Sending messages is the mechanism; protecting the relationship from drift is the job.

      Really useful comment, thank you.

        I'm glad it resonated.

Reading your reply gave me one thought about the way you're protecting that ritual over time. I'd rather explain it in the context of your product than try to compress it into a thread.

If you're interested, what's the best email to reach you on?

Sure — I can't post links yet (new account), so: lmjpagalba [at] gmail [dot] com.

That's the general contact for the app, I read everything that comes in.

Feel free to just write the thought out there.

Thanks! I’ve just sent it over.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you have a chance.
