Mergefly

A collaborative UI for reviewing and merging pull requests

June 16, 2020 Added a new feature this week

This week we pushed out a new feature! You can now mark repositories as favorites. This is a great feature for helping speed up initial load and narrow down the number of pull requests shown on the home page.

Before this feature, we would show all open pull requests for all repositories you were a part of. We got plenty of feedback though that it was too much information and that it would take too long to find the most relevant pull requests. With favorites, we expect this problem to be a thing of the past!

May 18, 2020 Successfully Launched V5.0

Today, we successfully launched the next version of Mergefly! This is a huge win as we really feel that the product has come together. We now have a complete experience on both desktop and mobile and the addition of tracking a user's recent activity makes using the site really quick and easy.

I'm really proud of the work we've put in and what we have to show for it!

May 11, 2020 Just announced V5.0

We've spent the past month working intently on the next version of Mergefly and the release email went out today! The next version will be released on Monday May 18th and will include: a recent activity navbar for faster navigation, a completely redone home page, a better way of viewing commits, UI touch-ups and bug fixes and best of all a mobile ready UI! Finally, users will be able to use Mergefly on their phone with all of the features Mergefly has to offer.

I am extremely excited for this release and I can't wait to hear what our users think.

April 7, 2020 A Mergefly success story

I wanted to share a piece of feedback about Mergefly from one of our users. When asked about how he would compare Mergefly to GitHub he said:

"After 3 months using Mergefly, I cannot imagine going back to GitHub. Some of the features provided are just too valuable to lose. One that stands out to me is how you can jump to function definitions within the pull request with a simple cmd+click. It lets me understand exactly what the changes are doing by giving me immediate context without having to waste time asking my teammates to explain it to me."

March 25, 2020 We have updated our landing page

We have gotten plenty of feedback that our landing page needed some work, so we are now launching our updated landing page. We've improved the layout, theme, content, loading speed, SEO score, everything we could think of. We also updated the URL so that we now use mergefly.com for the about page and pr.mergefly.com for our main product. We hope this will make the site easier to find and share on the web.

February 1, 2020 Our diff editor has been updated to use Monaco

I can't believe I had never heard of this technology, but as soon as I stumbled across the Monaco editor I knew it needed to be a part of Mergefly.

The past month has been spent aggressively updating our code to use the editor and the results are amazing. The product is so much better with this amazing technology.

We also had the idea to integrate all of the available themes into our site. Now, instead of having just light and dark themes, we have over 50 themes that users can choose between on the fly!

February 1, 2020 Our first paying customer!

We finally got our first paying customer! One of my good friends has convinced his company to give Mergefly a shot. We gave them an extended free trial and finally asked for them to pay for the product. And they did!

The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive. So glad to have come this far.

September 1, 2019 Finally finished our MVP

It's been 1 year of development and we have finally released our MVP. There is still so much to improve and so many features we want to add, but the time has come to admit that the product is ready to show to others and get some initial users.

I also want to thank my brother for being my co-founder/co-developer on Mergefly. The past year has been amazing and I couldn't imagine doing it with anyone else.

March 1, 2019 We no longer have to use GitHub

We've reached our first milestone! Naturally we review our own changes to Mergefly with Mergefly itself. Today we have finally gotten the product far enough along that we don't have to go to GitHub to finish different parts of the review. It's not quite a finished MVP but it's a very exciting day.

September 1, 2018 Finally got started on Mergefly!

I've experienced it myself and have heard it over and over from my coworkers how frustrating we all find GitHubs UI for doing large pull requests. As of today though, the time has come to do something about it. I've got my brother as a co-founder/co-developer and it is time to get started!

About

As a developer, I found most code review tools to be too limiting when it came to complex changes. Mergefly is my solution to reviewing code in a collaborative way with the features developers love.
