MERNKIT
SaaS boilerplate for the MERN stack
All proceeds go to charities to support people struggling with addiction. Right now I donate the proceeds to https://bigvision.nyc, and https://youareaccountable.com/scholarships.
BigVision was founded by a woman who lost her son to an overdose. Their mission is to help young people in recovery find fun in recovery. As someone who got sober at 25 this is super meaningful to me!
You Are Accountable is a company I founded to support individuals and families in their first years of recovery through online peer support, remote toxicology monitoring, and care coordination. I spun up a not for profit arm to offer scholarships https://youareaccountable.com/scholarships.

I've gotten some awesome feedback from people who have been using the live preview and purchasing the code. It seemed like a good time to just go for it. We'll see how the launch goes! Thank you for all your support!

It has been less than a week since I launched MERNKit and I already have some wins. It really does get easier to launch a startup once you've done it before. Here is some of what I am doing to build initial traction while I work on SEO:
-
Experimenting with Facebook and Google Ads
-
Post in threads where I think my potential customers are whether that is Indie Hackers, or Facebook groups.
-
Most importantly, I email every person who signs up for a live preview at https://mernkit.com. I ask for feedback on why they have or haven't purchased, and if they have purchased what I can do better. Rinse and repeat :).

Hey all! I bootstrapped and sold my first SaaS startup two years ago, worked for the acquirer until last month, and now I'm getting started building again! My first post employment goal was to build a SaaS template with all the boring stuff (subscription management, authentication, permission management, and a clean user interface) so I could build products quickly. I figured since I'm building it anyway I might as well offer it for sale. I know the importance of keeping cash outlay low in the beginning and I noticed all the other boilerplates are charging larger upfront fees. I'm offering mine for a much lower monthly fee. Pay while you use it - cancel anytime. I would love feedback and would love to help anyone starting out on this journey. It is fun, exciting, and very emotional :).

I wanted a reputable boilerplate I could use to iterate quickly and found the existing ones were charging a large upfront fee. I don't like paying money before I know I have product market fit so here we are :).
