MetaWhisp

Local Voice-to-Text for Mac

April 1, 2026 I made the first-ever voice-to-text app for Mac.

Just kidding — happy April 1st. It’s probably the 100th. But hear me out: it might be the fastest, the best-looking, and the cheapest one you’ll find)

It’s called MetaWhisp. Press a key, say words, text shows up wherever your cursor is. Revolutionary, I know.

MetaWhisp is native macOS. Whisper runs locally — your audio goes nowhere. No account, no cloud, no “we value your privacy” banner that means the opposite. Free to use. If you want the fast lane — Cerebras-powered AI processing, grammar cleanup, multi-language magic — that’s $30/year. Not per month. Per year. Your competitors charge that per quarter and call it a deal.

Planning to open-source the core soon.

About

I built it because every dictation tool either wants $12-15/month or ships as a heavy Electron wrapper. MetaWhisp is a native macOS app — lightweight, runs Whisper on-device, and works system-wide via a global hotkey.
