February 27, 2020 Launched on Product Hunt

Today we've launched our second privacy product for devs and designers.

It's now live on Product Hunt 👉 https://www.producthunt.com/posts/metomic-contextual-consent

The problem we're solving...
Most of us have chat widgets 💬, videos 🎥, social share buttons 👍and other third party embeds on our websites. But these drop cookies all over our users before they even click on them, which isn't exactly fair. How can we make this optional while making sure our users still know the content exists?

How we're solving it...
With Metomic Contextual Consent you can render cookie-free "placeholders" and only load the real content when your users interact with it. All it takes is one snippet on your website and Metomic will take care of the rest - blocking the most popular third parties including Intercom, Youtube, Facebook, Crisp, Twitter, Maps, Typeform and others. 🙌

We'd love your support and feedback! ❤️

      Thanks Joseph :)

January 10, 2020 Launched a community Slack channel for privacy!

We were using Render and saw how well they were doing customer support through Slack.

So we decided to setup our own here at Metomic. A place where developers and designers can get Metomic support, suggest new products/features, and ask general questions relating to tech/design and privacy.

What we're trying to achieve:

  • Reduced number of support queries through intercom
  • Build an engaged community of users
  • Create more of a discussion around privacy and the associated tech

Thanks the inspiration @anuragg

Congratulations! Slack for users (especially developers) is always incredibly helpful early on. This was also the case with Stripe when we first launched.

Thanks! Super excited to see what comes of it. Does require a lot of time and attention in the early days

That's an excellent idea to build a community around your product as they will naturally become the product "defenders". Keeping a community active is not easy though.

Yes and getting it started is difficult too - a bit of a chicken and egg problem. But things looking positive so far :)

December 28, 2019 Reached 500 customers

Without a single dollar spend on advertising and a small team of about 8, we grew entirely organically following our Product Hunt launch earlier in the year.

The 500 mark was a great milestone for us and it showed the demand for having a cookie widget that looked good, was transparent, and super easy to use.

May 29, 2019 Launched on Product Hunt

After redesigning and rebuilding our cookie widget, we launched it on Product Hunt to an amazing reception!

It was crazy day. At that time, there was five of us in the team and the PH launch consumed every second of our time for a few days - answering questions, fixing bugs, watching the numbers go up.... a lot of fun!

December 30, 2018 Raised £1.4M Seed Round

We soon closed our seed round, led by Connect Ventures and participation from Saatchinvest, Samos VC, and Entrepreneur First.

The investment process took our eye off product for a couple of months, but overall not too much stress :)

It was time to start building a team!

September 2018 Launched at EF Demo Day

Rich stood up on stage and pitched Metomic to ~500 investors.

With recent Cambridge Analytica news, the timing was great. It was about the time that the world started waking up to the world of data privacy.

We had a lot of interest from investors... our seed fundraising journey began.

July 2018 Started in Entrepreneur First, London

Rich and Ben met at EF10 London cohort.

Immediately gelled on the idea of building the internet's next generation of privacy products. Make privacy less boring, more exciting. Taking it away from compliance people and giving it to developers and designers... where it belongs.
