Midas
Virtual debit cards powered by mobile money
So after getting the company approved I went for the company documents and certificates. With this we're officially incorporated as Bhyte Software Limited Company in Ghana and we can do more official things now.
I've already uploaded the documents to Paystack and we now have access to Paystack business APIs and features. Right now what we'd have to do is find a good virtual cards provider like Mono or Bridgecard or something and do some internal testing.
It's been a while, so here's a little update.
Midas has been in development for some time now. The whole journey so far has been pretty slow but we are getting there bit by bit. The recent slowness is mainly due to the fact that in order for us to have some basic functionality on Midas like withdrawing user money or even being able to create and use a virtual card, we need official business/company documents.
We started the company (limited liability company) process back in November, and it's been a very gruelling and annoying few months but just last week we got news that our company had been approved 🙏 🎉
This means the parent company of Midas, Bhyte Software, is now an official registered company in Ghana and all we need is the documents and paper to validate it.
Oh yeah, we also launched an early open testing version of Midas to the Playstore 😅 Check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bhyte.midas
Here you can test out the signup and login flow and also play around with some dummy transactions. We have about 10 users/testers right now, let's see what happens.
That's all for this update, until next time!

So I've known about Pioneer since 2020 now. It actually seems like a pretty cool form of an accelerator and a lot of African startups seem to have joined it and ended up becoming quite successful imho. I added Midas to the tournament a few days ago and so far so good.
I personally don't like things with points/grading systems, but the whole thing seems like it helps you to stay focused and accountable to your goals so I guess thats pretty neat. I feel like it would also be a good way of networking, getting mentors, VC recognition, etc.
I really wanna see how it helps. Any people here who've tried or joined out Pioneer.app?

Hey! This is my first week on the Pioneer tourney this year and I was wondering if what happened with my starup is normal: I basically shot from a score of 0 (if thats the initial score) to being #50 in US west. That’s a increase of 68,000 points. I know you go up the leaderboard fast but is that the usual pace? This was my first progress update.

Hey Aden. Yeah that seems pretty normal. In my case I didn't even start at 0, I just joined and I was already somewhere on the Africa leaderboard, I guess that's just how their system works😅
Mind if I ask what you're building?

Although I would've wanted to post much earlier, I think this is the best time to just start.
It's a new year once again. Midas has been in production for a couple months now, since April actually, but I listed the founding date as September 2022 since I feel like that's when the whole founding team came together to really get serious and start something.
Right now we're in the process of developing and finishing up the very first version of the app. I'll have a meeting with the team where I'll demo a simple Deposit/Withdraw and Send feature and hopefully that'll get us started on something. Then we can begin in-house testing and I predict all of our business documents should be in place by the end of January to launch v1 of Midas in February.
~Lets hope for the best and see what happens in this journey.
