TL;DR - I had the domain mighty.io all ready to start working on Mightyboards. Then a domain broker contacted me on behalf of a buyer and we ended up negotiated a 5-figure price!! 😲
I initially ignored the first few requests from the broker thinking it was spam. When they persisted, I replied and soon found myself in a negotiation.
Since I thought it was spammy, I set a very high starting price to scare them off so I could carry on with my day - I had plans for mighty.io and didn't think I'd be selling. To my surprise, they responded fast with a lower but still reasonable offer. We ended up settling on a price somewhere in between.
I still didn't believe it would happen even at the last stage of the escrow process. I even got repeated, impatient emails from the broker because I wasn't replying in a timely manner 😂 I was paragliding in the Dolomites at the time so screen time and phone reception were hard to come by.
This came completely out of the blue and was my first ever domain name sale! Some of the proceeds will go towards getting Mightyboards up and running.
I've since purchased a new domain name: mightyboards.net
I'm building Mightyboards in public and you can follow along on Indie Hackers or find me on twitter @samuellevy
