August 20, 2020 Twitter launch

I launched Mind Health on Twitter. It was a great feeling to finally share my creation with the world.

I received great feedback from @whitandersonIV, @iruhdam, @edmunda, @michael and many others.

The tweet storm got 13000+ impressions and many hundred users tried out Mind Health for the first time.

July 10, 2020 Mindfulness Meditations

The best feature that could complete Cognitive Distortions was something on mindfulness to build strong awareness and focus on the present.

This happened after a discussion with @edmunda on a Cuppa chat, which spurred me on to create more for this app.

The meditations were sourced from UCLA's library.

June 16, 2020 Distortion of the Day

I knew that I had to make the app more engaging and the feature that I conceived was to create a 'Distortion of the Day' feature, similar to Dictionary.com's Word of the Day.

I used some scripting knowledge to recalculate values in the Google Sheet at a set hour every day and this enabled me to show a new Distortion every day.

June 11, 2020 Move towards simplicity

I worked on the app as a side project from April to June. I added a journaling feature to the app but I realized that journaling needs to completely private, which Glide didn’t allow at the time.

So I removed this feature and made it simple again.

April 2020 Ready with v0.1 of the Glide App

When I was done with the illustrations, I thought to myself – might as well create a @glideapps for myself from this. It could be more useful to me as an app on my phone.

Since I've built apps in Glide before, it didn’t take much time to get a basic version functioning.

April 12, 2020 Started Illustrating

At the start of the pandemic, I wanted to channelize my negative energies into something positive. I love illustrating, so I thought why not illustrate something. I thought why not make illustrations for the 10 cognitive distortions. It all started from here.

About

I built Mind Health at the beginning of the pandemic to channelize my energies into creation and solve my own problem around mental health by identifying cognitive distortions and practice mindfulness.
