Chrome extension to help you remember what you read
Realised that I read interesting things all the time but then struggle to recall facts and figures that I've read when I want to pull them out in conversation.
This could be from news articles, blog posts or anything else!
I thought that this could be solved by using spaced repetition, within the browser where people spend so much of their time.
So, mindreps is a Chrome Extension that uses spaced-repetition in-browser to test people on the things they're trying to remember - in turn cementing it into your memory.
Soon after I thought of the idea, I posted it on Kernal, see here: https://kern.al/idea/knowledge-retention-tool.
This got me some validation: - people saying they resonated with the problem.
11 people said they would use it, 1 said they would pay for it and 1 said they would help to build it.
So, I decided to get to work and start building it myself.
As a non-technical founder, I decided to take matters into my own hands and started to build the MVP myself. I had mapped out some rough sketches for how I thought the simplest version of the product could work.
I then decided to get to work in Bubble - through completing their tutorials and watching loads of YouTube videos, I've been able to build an MVP in Bubble.
Whilst it is a web-app that works on Desktop rather than a Chrome Extension, I believe that what I've built sufficiently replicates how mindreps will work.
Through building in public on Twitter and posting on Reddit, I managed to get 40 signups for mindreps.
A handful of these tested the MVP but didn't convert to regular users. I believe that this was because the MVP wasn't intuitive enough.
I've now made a large number of changes to the MVP to make it significantly more intuitive and am looking for more users to test it and provide me with feedback.
I'm now here to ask for users, testers and as much feedback as possible. I really believe that mindreps can be the product to help people move from consuming content that they read to actually learning content that they read.
