September 23, 2020 Launched on Product Hunt 🚀

I posted https://minimaps.io/ on PH today!

https://www.producthunt.com/posts/minimaps

I don’t have a large following so I’d appreciate any upvotes and feedback you have!

This community has already been really helpful as I’ve been building out the initial product and providing a lot of great insight a long the way. So, thank you 🙂

Great job, I know launching on PH is both exciting and daunting. All the best. (Upvoted)

    Sounds interesting.
Some stuff that might be challenging:

    1. Same ideas may have different titles - > might spam the page for same idea.
    2. If there are not many votes, it may give a feeling to the users that not many use your system. It might make your product to look "cheap". I think it better to hide it. Or to use for example "popular" or "unpopular".

    Good luck!

      Thanks!

      1. It goes into an inbox where an admin approves so they don't need to accept all of them. The user doesn't see these.
      2. Transparency is key and removing it doesn't accomplish what we've set out to do. It's up to a user how to use it and they can always disable voting if they have low traffic.

    Congrats for the launch!

Your landing page looks really cool. I tried to test the product, but for me your roadmap loads really slow (5-10 seconds). Any ideas why it takes so long to load? Is it the current traffic?

    1. 1

      Thank you!

Are you sure it's not on your end? Haven't been able to reproduce and seems to work perfectly fine for others.

      1. 1

Yes, it's definitely not on my end...

        1. 1

I've tested with multiple people, multiple computers/devices and haven't been able to reproduce.

          1. 1

Did you test from multiple geolocations?

Does the entire roadmap load instantly for you, or first it loads the layout and a bit later the actual items in the roadmap?

I suggest implementing some basic performance metrics to check if there's something wrong.

            1. 1

I do have that implemented and I'm not seeing any issues with other geolocations. And it will always load the layout before the data. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the heads up.

Nice product! Just gave you an upvote :)

September 15, 2020 New Homepage and New Features!

I launched a new homepage based on the feedback from this community: https://minimaps.io

The biggest changes from the previous homepage are clearer copy, screenshots of the product with a link to our public roadmap, and easier to understand CTAs.

I also launched some new features including the most requested feature - Timeline! You can now view your projects in a timeline view (or turn it off if you want to as well).

Thank you!

I really like the homepage. Clean and simple.
It really shows what the project is about.

Like @mogulchris said, a little more screenshots showcasing some of the features would make the page look even better. Maybe an image for each of the 6 features under the hero image.

    1. 1

Thanks! I'm adding a features page in the next couple of days that should show that

  2. 2

Very cool, really big fan of the demo you have in the hero, especially the little preview behind the "View our roadmap" button.

My only suggestion would be possibly adding further screenshots of the features if you could. I know you have little snippets about things like privacy controls and customizability but it would be great to see those in action before signing up (maybe even through a separate "features" page).

Good luck and great job :)

    1. 1

Thank you! I'll be adding a features page which will have more screenshots of the product (and more info on the features themselves)

July 29, 2020 Featured on BetaList!

https://minimaps.io is featured on BetaList today! I would greatly appreciate a ❤️ if you don't mind.

https://betalist.com/startups/minimaps

I've gotten a lot of great feedback recently - particularly around the UI and making it easier to request feedback / voting on features within a roadmap. I should have a release coming out by the end of the week with some nice updates and additional features.

Thank you!

    Congrats!

As the maker of SaaSHub, I'd suggest submitting Minimps to SH, too. I will make sure it's approved in ~24h.

    1. 2

I just found out about SaaSHub here and submitted my product (Browse AI). Seems quite well executed. 👌

    2. 1

Agree, it felt really good to get approved so fast on SaaSHub! Thanks @StanBright! I didn't get yet any traffic from it but I appreciate the process!

  2. 1

Oh man! Now I realize I should have made such a post back when we got featured! 😆
Gave it a little ❤️ and noticed Christian P has replied to you as well!

    Best of luck!

    That’s awesome Nate - congrats!

    Hey Nate,

I would love to have MiniMaps on my new side project LeadCruise.com! Your feedback would be appreciated!

Looking forward to connecting with you!

June 25, 2020 500 Signups!

https://minimaps.io has reached over 500 signups with little to no marketing! The majority of our traffic has been from Twitter and IH.

I've gotten a lot great feedback from this community and have been able to make small incremental improvements. We were approved for Betalist a couple of weeks ago and I have all assets ready for a PH launch. Very excited to see what comes out of this.

I've also been working on a timeline view for your roadmap which will be released within the next week or so.

Thanks again and let me know if you have any feedback!

  4. 1

great! how did you launch on twitter, any tips or suggestions? did you create a personal or a minimaps brand account? and how did you target your customer base?

  5. 1

    Great achievement 👏

June 1, 2020 350 Signups!

https://minimaps.io just reached 350 signups!

A good portion of those who signed up are also actively using the product. I haven't done much marketing yet and most of the traffic was driven from IH.

I'll be posting on Product Hunt this week so I'm excited to see what happens with that audience.

Hey Nate, congratulations on this milestone!

Just checked out Minimaps, and I have to say it’s one of the best looking websites I’ve ever seen. Absolutely love the design and overall feel of the site. Awesome job 🙌

    1. 1

      Thank you so much!

  2. 1

Congrats @nateschulte and good luck with the PH launch.

  3. 1

Looks really cool. One suggestion from my side is you can include some screenshots or video of the application on landing page, so that users know how it looks like and how it works at the first glance instead of trying to figure out themselves.

    1. 1

      Thanks for the feedback!

  4. 1

    Great idea

May 20, 2020 100 Signups!

https://minimaps.io just reached 100 signups!

I didn't really do much marketing - I posted in a couple of forums (including IndieHackers). I'll be posting on PH most likely next week - I have one more feature that I'm working on that should be released by the end of the week.

It's not a lot but I'm proud and looking forward to growing our user base over the next few weeks.

It's looking good. Are you thinking about a timeline view also or you are moving forward with column style?

    1. 1

      Thanks!

Yeah, I've been toying with a few ideas for a timeline view. Dates are being added shortly and then will help me set take the first step towards a timeline

  2. 2

Congrats! It's a huge achievement in my opinion. You only need 100 truly fans!

  3. 1

How did you get these signups? Where did you post links to your site?

    1. 1

I just posted on IH for now - next week I'm looking at doing more broad communications

May 19, 2020 Launched Minimaps.io to the public!

Today I launched https://minimaps.io to the public! There are definitely a few things that need to be fixed and features are limited.

I've been working on this for over six weeks and I'm excited to have this launched to the public. I'll be posting on Product Hunt and other sources in the near future.

I'd love any feedback you could provide!
