Mix The Meet

MVP has been deployed online! Did some work on the homepage to look kind of decent, wired up some social sharing info and hooked up the domain. You can try it out here https://mixthemeet.com !

There are still a few things to work out after I've shown it with a few people before this is properly functional, but I couldn't wait to post this 😁.

I'll probably fix some things before I actually do a more public launch. Some upcoming fixes:

• Add a volume controller and start volume at 40% (It's too loud right now)
• Randomize the sounds a bit to make it more fun
• Come up with a way to make it easier to run it in parallel with your zoom meeting

But don't wait for these. Go try it people!!!!!

It took around a week of work broken up in between 3 weeks. I tried to play with some new tools that I've been meaning to try out, and new projects are always fertile ground for testing out new tech!
I ended up building the whole thing on Django Channels and AlpineJS. Super fast combination!

The whole thing is fully functional and I'm pretty happy with it right now. Will test it out with some friends to come up with things to fix before releasing to the general public!

We were discussing with my team at work that we should make our corporate meetings more fun. They thought of adding some extra slides with claps or gong sounds before certain announcements to spice things up.

Wouldn't it be nicer if you could do it on the fly though? In the heat of the moment?
