Traffic starting to rise again
by Daniel DavisI finished the first A/B test, comparing "Search for watches on eBay" and "Find watches on eBay" affiliate links. "Find" was the winner (~3% CTR increase) but not statistically significant. Nevertheless I'm going to stick with that, but switch to a new test comparing "Find watches on eBay" and "Find watches for sale". Watch this space…
I finished converting all JPG images to WebP, using ChatGPT to generate a Python script to do it automatically – saved so much time! My site already had a good PageSpeed score but now it's gone up to 98/100 on mobile, so very happy with that!
On the suggestion of a fellow IndieHacker I tried engaging with a few Reddit discussions but it didn't lead to many visits, so I'll only do it when I have the time and motivation.
And a nice surprise this time – another Seiko watch website (https://seikoworldtime.com) has started pointing people to my site when they're looking for details about particular models. This seems to be helping my traffic come out of its February slump. :-)
Todo:
- Use the eBay API to add photo links to watches for sale.
- Maybe make a page listing watch batteries.
