Hey everyone,
I'm Sylvester Marquant, a Product Designer and Design Engineer from Nigeria.
Over the past few months, I've been building MockupReel, a browser-based tool that turns mobile screen recordings into polished app mockups.
The idea came from a frustration I kept running into. Every time I wanted to showcase an app, I found myself jumping between multiple tools just to add a device frame, tweak a background, and export a video. It felt like a workflow that should be much simpler.
So I decided to build the tool I wished existed.
Some of the principles behind MockupReel are:
Runs entirely in the browser
No account required
Privacy-first (videos never leave your device)
No watermarks
Free to use
Since launching the beta, it's been exciting to see people from more than 15 countries using it. Every piece of feedback has helped shape the product, and I'm continuing to ship improvements based on what users actually need.
I'm joining Indie Hackers because I want to build in public, learn from other founders, and share what I learn along the way. I'll be posting about product decisions, technical challenges, launches, growth experiments, and the lessons that come with building a product from scratch.

The privacy-first browser approach is a nice fit for this use case because app recordings often contain things founders don't want uploaded elsewhere.
The bigger challenge with tools like this is becoming part of the launch workflow rather than something people discover only when they need a mockup.
That's a great point. The product itself solves a workflow problem, but becoming part of someone's ongoing workflow is a different challenge altogether.
I'm thinking a lot about how MockupReel can fit naturally into launch cycles, design reviews, case studies, and social content rather than only being used right before a release. Thanks for the perspective.
Out of curiosity, have you seen any products that have done this particularly well?
