400 users, and our first major update!
by Omar2 weeks ago, Monitoro was live for the first time and it started attracting interested users like crazy.
Fast forward to today, where we're 400 users strong. This amount of popularity means that there was a lot of user feedback, and a lot of things to fix. And listening to user feedback we did.
This major update builds on our learnings about the difficulty of creating monitors. Among the biggest obstacles that our users encountered, finding the right CSS selectors was a common challenge.
So we shipped a brand new browser extension 🥳. It's available on Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Chromium Edge, and Brave using the Chrome web store. The extension makes selecting parts of a web page much easier, creating a monitor faster.
We also improved the user experience all around, squished many pesky bugs, and improved the performance overall.

Be careful with feedback from the free users lest you optimize the product for people who never will never pay. (The browser extension does seem like a great idea, however.)

What you say is very true - and we did take it into account, as the bulk of our usability testing was based on usage patterns and where users drop off, whereby the explicit feedback merely helped put some words to it.

Looks really slick.
How has your experience been with publishing the Chrome Web Store for Firefox? I just published a Chrome extension yesterday and am in the dreaded "Pending Review" state. I've read stories of extensions pending review for weeks. 😬

I am actually also waiting for a new version to be released :D
Long story, if you're conservative with permissions, publishing will be pretty quick. My case is different, since optimizing permissions takes a lot of time and it's not serving the product so much right now.
My previous release took 3 days to be released (due to this permission business).
Just don't stress, it will be reviewed soon!

Gotcha. I only have the 3 most basic(i think) permissions(activeTab, declarativeContent, and storage) but the content script is specifically for a google domain so we'll see how that goes.

Should work out pretty fine, crossing fingers! :)
FYI, the Firefox add-on store has a more involved process, but it makes it easy to self-host as well.

How many of those are paying users?

2 users 😅 but frankly speaking we’re still working on solving some usability issues that prevented many of our users from being able to benefit from it.
Once we’re over the hill, we’ll focus on increasing the conversion rate on the road to product market fit.
