More Than Calculators — Smart, fast, and accurate calculator

April 27, 2026 I built More Than Calculators — a bootstrapped platform with 500+ free online calculators for finance, health, business, and everyday life.

The idea started from a simple observation: people search for answers, not software.

Most users don’t want a complicated app. They want a fast answer:
“How much tax will I pay?”
“What’s my mortgage payment?”
“How much should I save each month?”
“What’s my BMI?”

Instead of building another “big SaaS,” I focused on solving thousands of small problems.

The strategy was simple:

• Create genuinely useful calculator tools
• Build pages around real search intent
• Focus heavily on SEO and long-tail keywords
• Improve trust with better UX, schema, and authority signals
• Keep everything free and frictionless

No investors. No team. No paid ads.

Just consistent building, testing, and improving.

One of the biggest lessons I learned is that boring products can be great businesses.

People may not get excited about calculators, but they use them every single day. Utility wins.

Another lesson: distribution matters as much as the product.

A good calculator nobody finds is useless.
A simple calculator with strong SEO can outperform much “cooler” products.

Right now I’m focused on:

• improving indexing and organic traffic
• increasing authority through backlinks and listings
• getting listed on platforms like Product Hunt, SaaSHub, G2, and Trustpilot
• building stronger programmatic SEO systems
• turning traffic into a sustainable long-term business

I’m sharing this because many founders overlook “simple utility products” while chasing the next flashy startup idea.

Sometimes the best business is solving practical problems at scale.

Would love to hear from others building in SEO-first, utility-first, or bootstrap-first businesses.

April 24, 2026 Built something simple, but incredibly useful.

We created More Than Calculators — a growing collection of fast, accurate, and easy-to-use calculators for finance, health, business, education, and everyday life.

Most calculator websites feel outdated, slow, and overloaded with ads. We wanted the opposite:
clean tools, quick answers, and a better user experience.

Our focus is simple:
help people solve real problems in seconds.

From mortgage and APR calculators to health, age, tax, and hundreds of other tools — we’re building a platform people can actually rely on.

Still early, still improving every day, but excited for what’s coming next.

Would love your feedback:

Most people find themselves searching for a specific calculator only to get stuck on a page that is cluttered with intrusive ads and outdated layouts that make simple math feel like a chore. It is a huge relief to have a clean, fast interface where you can just get your answer and move on with your day without the visual noise. Since your goal is to help people solve real problems in seconds, how do you decide which new calculators to prioritize for development as you grow the platform?

Right now, the biggest driver is intent + frequency.

I pay close attention to what people are already searching for—both through Google Search Console and keyword patterns across the site. If thousands of people are looking for something like an APR Calculator, After-Tax Yield Calculator, or Debt Snowball Calculator, that usually moves it to the top of the list faster than something niche.

The second filter is “problem urgency.” I prioritize calculators that solve real decisions, not just curiosity. For example, mortgage, tax, loan, ROI, and health-related calculators tend to matter more because users need an answer right now, often before making a financial or personal decision.

The third factor is content depth. I prefer calculators where I can create not just the tool, but also strong supporting content—clear explanations, examples, FAQ schema, and helpful comparison pages. That helps both SEO and trust, instead of publishing thin calculator pages that look disposable.

I also look for underserved areas where existing results are poor—too many ads, slow interfaces, or outdated UX. If users are frustrated with what already ranks, that is usually a good opportunity for More Than Calculators to win by simply being cleaner and faster.

      So the simple formula is:

high search demand + strong user intent + weak competition experience = high priority.

The long-term goal is not just having “more calculators,” but building the first place people trust when they need quick, reliable answers. Quantity helps discovery, but usefulness is what creates return visitors.

The "high search demand + weak competition" formula is the most logical path for growth because it lets you capture high-intent traffic by simply offering a better user experience than the legacy sites.

Focusing on "problem urgency" tools like mortgage and tax calculators is a smart long-term play since those users are often in a high-stakes decision-making mindset and will naturally value a clean, ad-free interface more than someone just browsing.

I use a similar data-driven approach in my high-tier PR and media placement work where we identify "content gaps" in the market to build massive authority for brands on major news outlets.

Since you are prioritizing SEO and trust through deep content, have you considered adding a "Copy to Clipboard" or "PDF Export" button so users can easily save and share their results for their records?
