Mornio
Heavy sleeper alarm that makes you scan a code to wake up
I sleep through everything. Normal alarms, loud alarms, three in a row. I'd turn them off in my sleep and wake up an hour late with no memory of doing it.
So I built Mornio. It's an iPhone alarm with one rule: to turn it off you have to get out of bed and scan a QR code or barcode you stuck somewhere across the room, the bathroom mirror, the coffee machine, the fridge. If you silence it without scanning, it comes back. And a few minutes after you scan, it checks again, so you can't just crawl back into bed.
No account or ads. Mornio doesn't require your email or personal profile, and the core alarm data stays on your device.
It's been on the App Store for about a month. I'd love feedback from other heavy sleepers or shift workers:
Does scan-to-dismiss actually sound like it'd get you up, or annoying enough you'd just delete it?
- For anyone who's tried it: was the first-morning setup (placing a code, picking what to scan) clear or confusing?

Happy to answer anything about how it's built or how it's going.

The QR-code constraint makes the alarm much more interesting than simply making it louder. The real test seems to be whether the extra friction is enough to reliably break the habit of dismissing alarms without making the setup annoying enough that people uninstall it.
