MotherFlocker
Backyard flock management made simple.
First time bootstrapper here. I'm trying to get MotherFlocker out to the masses. I could go post it on Reddit or Facebook in the backyard chicken groups. But those are really great communities because they don't want people selling to them in the community.
So what are my alternatives?
I could run ads. But ads are expensive. And there is no upper bound on cost per acquisition.
I'm happy to pay for acquisition, but I want an upper bound on that cost. This is where something like AppSumo shines. They are kinda slimy. But they guarantee that my acquisition cost is some percentage of my revenue. I got rejected from AppSumo last night.
Does anyone know of any high quality B2C SaaS directories? I'm happy to create discount codes so the directory makes money, so long as they can drive traffic to me.
I'm trying to get MotherFlocker out there. I don't have a fancy email list. Ads are expensive, but probably necessary. They just shouldn't be the only way. I'm submitting to various SaaS directories---AppSumo being the first. But got rejected. It stung for a moment, as all rejection does. But it probably wasn't the best fit anyways. In hindsight, they do focus more on B2B.
Here's to finding more directories!

Hey IH!
A few months ago, I left my cozy, VC-backed software engineering job. I wanted to try building my own thing. In this economy! Crazy, right?
So… what to build... What. To. Build.
I’ve always loved animals and nature, and I knew I wanted to do something in the agtech space. One day, while browsing Reddit, I saw people sharing Excel spreadsheets to track their chickens' egg counts. Wat. Even worse — some were waiting for the new year to get the updated template. Double wat.
There had to be a better way.
Sure, a few chicken tracking apps exist, but most are clunky or half-abandoned. None are as fun (or ridiculous) as MotherFlocker. It started with egg and expense tracking. Then I added some AI chat, a few chicken scratch cartoons, and — of course — puns. Lots of puns.
I’ve been a professional software engineer for 12 years. Normally, when I talk about what I build, non-techies eyes glaze over. But this time? Everyone I tell about MotherFlocker laughs their ass off.
If this doesn’t work out, at least I had fun building something that makes people smile.

I love animals and nature. MotherFlocker is my way of combining that with my passion for building software, in a way that is fun and puts a smile on peoples face.
