Mr.Dobelina Burger Buns

I know this is not Indie Hackers materials, as I'm not selling anything close to SaaS or else, but you'd need to know a bit more of my background.

I've been a Digital Project Manager and eCommerce Manager for over 7 years, I've launched a couple of iOS apps about vinyl records, and I've been freelancing in digital services since forever. I regret I've never learned to code, but being an Indie Hacker is in my DNA.

Because of that, I've been working on Mr.Dobelina the same way I would have worked on a digital product, I'm crafting my business following typical digital startup processes and I keep reading books about digital startups, trying to replicate those processes in Mr.Dobelina.

Also, having worked for ages in eCommerce helped me a lot to make the best of Mr. Dobelina's online store. I built it myself, and after having managed stores for other people, it's incredibly satisfying to hear the Shopify cha-cing when someone buys burger buns in my store!

Oh well, a year is already passed and many things happened meanwhile!

I'll try to keep sharing my story from now on, but for now, I'll just tell you that during this year we started serving more than 50 restaurants all over Italy, shipping over 100.000 buns.

I'm still a big believer of the D2C part of the project with our online store, but I'd need more time in a day to all I want.

Potato burger buns in Italy didn't exist, so everytime I was coming back from NYC I used to bring with me dozen of packs to have great burgers in Italy. The COVID hit so I couldn't have anymore my beloved potato roll, so I studied my own recipe to bake them at home for me and my friends.

I made a couple of burger nights in the restaurant of my gf, and it was a success, everyone started asking me for the potato burger buns, so I made an Instagram page for fun and...restaurants all over Italy started asking me to buy my potato rolls.

I partnered with a friend and we officially launched Mr.Dobelina, producing potato burger buns and serving few restaurants and few burger lovers that were buying the buns through the online store I created with Shopify.
