Building a Micro SaaS in less than 48 hours

I did it! The idea was simple: I don't really have the time to work on a side project right now, but I wanted to know if I was able to ship something during one week-end.

Idea, code, design, and ship in less than 48 hours... It was a really interesting experience, and I'll tell you more about it in a longer thread (In fact it was something like 15 hours of work).

But there were two crucial elements with this short journey

  • The stack is really important, and the tools that we have today are really AWESOME (Multy.me was created with NextJS (backend with API Routes), TailwindCSS, and Supabase.io for the DB).
  • Creating a website in such a short period of time forces you to focus on the most important features. I struggled with that on previous projects where I procrastinated, making useless features, and trying to fix a part of the design no one cares about. With just 48 hours, you have to get to the point.

You need a demo url on the top. I had to spend some time to make one just to see what it looks like

That's a good idea, I just added an example on the main page :)

Cool. Find a nice css for the ul list

    Awesome work dude 💪

    Curious how you're liking Supabase?

      Thank you!
At first I was not sure... I love Firebase and I'm used to it so for a small project like that, changing your favorite stack is not easy ^^

But I discovered Supabase a few month ago on Twitter and always wanted to try it. I'm really happy with it right now!
It was really easy to integrate it on my backend, 2 env variables and you're good to go. The documentation is great, I love the interface :)
It was the first time I used postgreSQL but Supabase make it easy to play with it.

Awesome -- was thinking of trying it out for my next project as well.

        Thanks!

@Etheon Congrats on launching a project in short amount of time. Kudos.
You're MVP works... you just need to list of links correctly. They overlap each other on the results page.
    Named List
    Unnamed List

Hello, and thank you for your feedback it's really nice :)

I fixed it. I was using grid and it's not really great for something responsive. The page is now using flex, but I'm not happy with the result anyway, I'll try to work on the URLs page

Glad to help. Good luck w/ your project.

It's very cool that you managed to focus on the most important functionality. But one essential thing is still missing. An explanation why we need your shortener, and why it is better than the others.

Tbh, the idea of the exercise wasn't to have a unique, or a better service than others. The main goal was to learn and challenge myself ;)

But to answer to your question, I struggled to find this type of service myself. Bit.ly did that a few years ago with bundle but closed it, and other website I found were closed or horrible to use.
Why multy.me? Because it's dead simple, free, and you don't need to login, I collect no personal data.

We'll see how it evolves, but right now it's just a fun side project, I didn't want to study the market during days ^^

        OK, fair point!

And I sure love it that you thought about monetization! Didn't know about ko-fi, gotta try it myself.
