After improving onboarding process and also more UI fixes, I finally decided to release Musca for everyone to try!

March 2018 Closed Beta Testing with a group of developers

After more tweaking on the onboarding and also streamlining the feature to be used in the MVP, I approached 5 close friends who are developers to test and use the app for a week+.

I approach them individually to find out what they think.

One didn't like the app and just feel is not a problem for him and therefore find no use on the app.

Of the remaining four who like the app, three actively use it to refer to CI status and also directly access CI or Commit web link directly from Musca. They also pointed out some UI problem and also offer suggestions.

I decided to keep the same set of feature and work on just UI improvement and bugfixes for Open Beta release soon.

December 16, 2017 Alpha Testing with a friend and fellow developer

When I have all the necessary service hook up and a running app that I use for a few days, I approach a friend and fellow developer to trial.

I found out many minor issues - especially in the onboarding process that is confusing. When not given the right permission, Musca will not be able to receive the CI Status for webhook of User's Repository. This will make it seems like it is broken.

If it is not a fellow friend, I think the drop out rate will be as high as 95%. I decide not to implement any feature and work on a better onboarding flow of the app.

About

I work on many Github Project, as a team, and as an individual. Whenever an issue occurs, it takes me quite a number of click on Github to get to the correct link I wanted. I created Musca as a tray app to solve this!
