October 27, 2021 Reached ramen profitability

Muvyu currently generates $2500/month in revenue. We optimized our commission-based business model extensively and worked intensely on lowering our operational costs. With that, Muvyu currently pays for itself and gives back some extra cash in the bank. We're working now on scaling our operations and enabling more instructors worldwide, helping them build additional revenue streams from their online business.

May 1, 2021 50+ weekly active users

Word-of-mouth worked really well with Muvyu. Our signups and activity grew steadily. We hit 500 registrations and 50+ weekly active users with $0 funding and $0 invested on ads or marketing. We focused on cold messaging/emailing and built excellent connections with our customers- instructors and students.

August 1, 2020 First paying customers

3 months in, we got our tax ID and bank account ready. Our payment integration with Stripe on test mode was also ready. We turned the switch to production mode and got our first payments. Shortly after that, we built more features to grow our revenue. We launched packages and subscriptions, which increased our monthly revenue and customer engagement.

May 1, 2020 Launched MVP

We quickly rebuilt the platform with scheduling, booking, calendars, video/audio streaming, personal pages, and class & instructor discovery and launched online. We didn't have payments yet as, due to Covid, it took longer than expected to get its tax ID issued, which is essential to open a company bank account. We couldn't wait to validate, so we directly started testing with friends and family and were able to get initial feedback and a sense of the market. The market was ready for Muvyu.

Thanks! How do you mean? We've built (coded) the MVP ourselves.

Got it. I was wondering if you uses something like Sharetribe or Bubble to build your marketplace.

Okay, I see what you mean. We are software engineers ourselves and we love building products. So it makes more sense for us to build it ourselves.

April 1, 2020 Muvyu was reborn

When Covid hit, I couldn't go to the gym or do workouts properly. Gyms, studios, and individual instructors were affected massively and started turning into online, live classes. With that, Muvyu was reborn. Yes, reborn. Muvyu is a startup that we bootstrapped between 2013 - 2015. Customers at the time didn't want to do online workouts, and internet speed wasn't at its best back then. We couldn't finance the project further, and the startup died in 2015. 5 years fast-forward, almost everyone jumped online. However, instructors' experience to manage their business online was siloed. They started using a mix of calendars, Zoom, PayPal, Square, spreadsheets, Instagram, and personal websites. Muvyu was initially built to combine all of those into one place. It was the right time to put Muvyu online again.
