My Digital Office
A virtual office space for distributed teams.
Most of our sales and marketing for https://www.mydigitaloffice.io/ has been very manual. We do xx marketing and yy people see it. MDO is 8 months old and has very little SEO yet; you will not find us by searching.. In spite of that, over the past few days we have achieved our first viral funnel.
A University has been using MDO for doing remote lessons during the global lockdowns. The educators there liked it so much they shared it with educators at other universities, who then liked it and shared it with more educators at other universities.
There is no way for us to have been able to predict and create this funnel manually. 'Hey maybe professors will like our virtual spaces and share it a bunch with their peers?', was not even a possible idea. I say 'achieved' because we take good care of all of our paying customers, which then results in mutual happiness when they start spreading the word :)
That is probably the main learning point here: take care of your customers!
On a normal day 60% of all traffic are returning users, aka 'active users'. Many people use the application every single day. From the funnel we have been receiving around 800 new users per day, mostly Universities checking it out.
Other possible future funnels we can think of -> virtual parties, co-working spaces, and offices. We have paying users for these use cases but no viral funnels yet. I wonder if there is anything we can do to make more funnels!!!??? ;)
We saw on social media that a bunch of people were looking for virtual spaces to have meetings online. Think 'Zoom parties' or company 'Slack parties'. We created a 'bar' layout and pushed it to a few places. First paid signup ASAP. No PH traction :) https://www.producthunt.com/posts/my-digital-party

When MDO was first launched there were unsolicited articles. Since I just joined Indie Hackers, I am celebrating this now!
Here is one in Japanese. There were a bunch in Spanish, unfortunately non-yet in English... even though that is the default language.

Working remotely for many years, I have grown tired of green circles representing status. I think there should be a more efficient and beneficial way to share status with your team. Is seeing believing? Check it out!
