My Good Week

Activity tracking tool using data from your calendar

Visit Website
March 10, 2022 It took months. The first SaaS launched

Today I quietly launched My Good Week (https://mygoodweek.com). Many features are yet to be added, many UI improvements to be made, but the core functionality is there.
I am excited to see the first users to come and try it out!

But was it as quick as I expected? Not at all.
When I started, I thought - I will put the MVP together in a month and will get first users right away. This was very wishful thinking!

It actually took me about half a year to have a first working version. I had to find people to help me with frontend and I had to spend a lot of time working on integration with Google Calendar APIs.

But here my journey starts, hope I can get some feedback soon.

February 2, 2022 My Good Week:widget for activity tracking is ready

One of goals of My Good Week is to give its users fast access to overview of their activities.

Went to gym? How many times this week? Month? Quarter? Year?
Studied for exam? How many hours?

I want most of such questions to be answered by a quick look at the activities dashboard. Take a look at screenshot in twitter πŸ™

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I am personally a pretty disorganized person. I sometimes mark things in calendar so I don't forget (birthdays, payments I have to make, meetings). I feel that trying to track any progress in a manual way (eg. how many times a week I go to the gym) is a chore that takes too much energy and doesn't provide a lot of value. Because of this, I rarely find the need to add more things to my calendar as adding them takes more time than it saves.

It might be just me, but when I think about a calendar, I think about a way to plan future activities, not to save past ones (remember the wall calendars with some story/joke on each day? Once a new day started, you would tear and throw away the page for yesterday. I feel the same about digital calendars, the past activities marked in my calendar don't really matter).

Thank you for your feedback! This is very useful point of view for me.

Indeed, many users use their digital calendar (be it Google Calendar or other tool) as
a planning tool and many events in the past are not correct or did not even happen. Pretending that everyone using their calendar in a way that fits My Good Week tracking approach would not be smart on my side!

On the other hand, this is productivity tool. There is a market for apps and services that provide manual tracking functionality of various activities, such as habit trackers, event trackers, progress trackers and others. Users actually learn new interfaces to enter their data daily, run a separate apps for different activities.
I did as well! And gave up quickly, as it is not convenient to have many apps, lean new UIs, my data is stored in some not well known app which might disappear.

With My Good Week I tried to address these problems:

      • Data is in Google Calendar. It is not going anywhere.
      • User already familiar with UI to enter data and most probably already got app for it.
      • Google takes care of planning your habits and other activities not to collide with your day plans, sends alerts, etc.
My Good Week uses that data to show each of your activities nicely in a separate widget and gives you statistics about it as well.

Sorry for a long message! Hope I could give you idea how I see my potential market - mostly productivity enthusiasts and people trying to build habits and those who look for motivation by quantification of their life.

Your LP looks very clean! What is your plan to attract signups right now? How are you going to market it?

      Thank you!
This is my biggest struggle to be honest. I have wide development experience, but close to zero marketing and SEO experience.

      My current strategy is:

      1. Starting a blog with productivity advice under My Good Week brand on the same domain.
      2. Publish use-cases of My Good Week for productivity practices.
      3. Working on Twitter account ( https://twitter.com/MyGoodWeek ) to gain some traction in productivity communities.

Let me know if you have any ideas!

I see we're walking in the same shoes! I'm nearly finished with my LP and I'm planning to start to market it and attract some newsletter subscribers while I build my product.

My plan is currently to find relevant subreddits on Reddit and try promoting there.

I also have a SaaS mentor, so I'll also take into consideration what he has to say. I should be presenting my LP to him in a few days.

Looking forward to follow your journey!

Where do people get SaaS mentors btw? =)

I saw some guy posting on LinkedIn about the mobile apps he built. I engaged with his content for a few weeks, since he talks about marketing, MVPs, and things that I find useful. He offered to help me himself, we'll see how it goes πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

August 1, 2021 Came up with idea for a productivity tool

This year I have started using personal quarterly OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) for improving my motivation and making progress of my daily activities more visible. I apply it for many areas of my life, such as workouts, language study, entrepreneurship, etc.

Many of my Key Results are based on "events" and "spent time". I found it very inconvenient too manually count number of times I went to gym of number of hours I spent studying, but all of these information is already in my calendar! I just had to dig into it and visualize it nicely. This is there My Good Week comes into play!

I decided to start working on it right away =)

You already have a tool to record your time for various habits and activities - your calendar. Why not use all the data you have there for habit tracking and reviews? My Good Week will help you with that.
