myCast.io

The fancasting community on mycast.io grew quickly after Robby White, Scott Simmons, and Paris Vega joined the team to help it grow and and to monetize the traffic it was getting. Fueled by a very low ad budget the registered users started to grow faster than expected.

Scott and Paris started recording a weekly podcast discussing the most popular fancasts and casting news. Each week they give a shout out to the most active users on the site. Soon they will start interviewing actors, directors, and others in the entertainment industry. Check out the show here: https://anchor.fm/the-mycast-show

Billy convinced Robby White, Scott Simmons, and Paris Vega to become part of the myCast team. Robby would head up sales and monetization. Scott would write content for the site and social media. Paris would manage the marketing/advertising to grow registered users.

At first grew through digital word of mouth. Billy shared a link to the site on reddit in some fancasting threads. He also shared a few posts on social media. Reddit by far was the biggest source of traffic starting out and helped get registered users up to 5,000 people around the world after 3 years since launch.

Billy Swift was a fancaster on IFList.com before it closed in 2016. Missing the ability to share fancasts on the web, he decided to build his own fancasting project. After a lot of love and sweat myCast.io was born. The site launched sometime in 2016.
