April 15, 2026 I Built a 100% Free, Cookieless Realtime Analytics Tool Because I Was Tired of Choosing Between Privacy and Performance

For the last 20+ years as a Senior Software Engineer and Tech Lead, I’ve shipped large scale e-commerce platforms, realtime monitoring systems, and enterprise tools. One thing always frustrated me: analytics.

Every time I needed insights on my own projects or client sites, I had two bad options:

  • Google Analytics (powerful but tracks everything and feels gross)

  • Privacy-friendly tools that were either painfully slow, missing key features, or still required consent banners

I finally got fed up and decided to build the analytics tool I actually wanted to use.

Introducing Nanolytica

Nanolytica is a privacy first, realtime analytics platform that works for websites, mobile apps, smart TVs, and even IoT devices, with zero cookies, zero tracking scripts, zero fingerprinting, and zero consent banners.

It gives you sub second dashboards, active time tracking, scroll depth, referrer analysis, bot detection, and deep filtering, all while being 100% GDPR & CCPA compliant by design.

Why I Built It

While working on high traffic e-commerce platforms, I saw firsthand how heavy traditional analytics slowed things down and eroded user trust.

I wanted something that was:

  • Truly realtime (WebSocket powered)

  • Extremely lightweight

  • 100% free for indie makers and small teams

  • Fully opensource and self hostable version for those who want complete control

So I started building it as an internal tool for my own sites (eringen.com). It quickly grew into something I knew other developers and bootstrappers would love.

Tech & Approach

I built Nanolytica with simplicity and performance in mind:

  • Single lightweight script tag for web

  • Simple POST API for mobile, TV, and IoT

  • Real-time updates via WebSockets

  • No personal data is ever stored

  • IP addresses are hashed immediately

  • Fully self hosted option (single binary, MIT license)

The whole thing is designed to feel invisible to users and powerful for makers.

About

I got tired of choosing between “easy but invasive” or “privacy-friendly but slow and limited.” Real-time dashboards. Combined views. Geo analytics. No cookies. GDPR compliant by design.
