January 28, 2020 New Nap O'Clock Video

I have been given a bit of a kick to creating an introduction video for Nap O'Clock. It was done in a hurry and the sound quality is not very good, however, I am fairly happy with it.

I would really appreciate as much feedback from you all as possible. This is definitely my first run at this video so any input atthis time out be great!!

January 13, 2020 Facebook Post Boost Experiment

Nap O'Clock is a product which provides white-noise to help fascilitate sleep in younger children....This has been done before.... It's not hugely unique, nor does it give much more functionality, at a mobile phone app level, than most other products. The only thing it gives which is different is little helpful tips for parents when trying to put their kids to sleep.

Starting in November last year, I decided to change my strategy; I wanted to make Nap O'Clock as more of a platform in helping parents with difficult moments in their newborn's development. I have a small gathering of people who like the page etc., but hadn't started growing the page.

After a while posting parenting tips to the Nap O'Clock Facebook I one day noticed that the page was given $10- credit from Facebook to "Boost" a post. I narrowed down my audience to around 35,000 people and ran with it and these are the results:

  1. 2738 people reached, 1129 or which were organic by way of shares and likes.
  2. 209 reactions, none negative, including 44 shares.
  3. 0 "Learn More" link clicks which went to the Nap O'Clock website.
  4. 0 Page Likes.
  5. Most traffic from USA... like literally 95% which is strange because I would have expected AU and NZ traffic moreso...

Ad revenue made from the App?

Zero.

Downloads of the App

Zero...

I have posted new content since the "boost" to generate more traffic, but still have the basic reach I started with.

Anyways, I thought I would share. Good experiment with FB advertising; will have to keep trying :)

December 4, 2019 New Feature!!

As we Plunge into the silly season having an app that can help your loved ones nap easier is essential! Nap O’Clock is not only an app you run on the phone to soothe your loved one to sleep with white noise, but it’s the first app on the Apple Watch to provide this functionality.

Version 1.7, which runs on both iOS and Android, provides a great new feature that tracks the amount of time an individual white noise sound gets played over today and the past 7 days! This is great for parents and carers to analyse how much time are spending trying to get their loved ones to sleep.

November 28, 2019 New App Update!!

New version of Nap O’Clock has been released on the Apple App Store and Google Play store. This release includes the new ‘blue’ colour scheme and a new ‘night-mode’ which turns the screen black when enabled; further enabling the sleep process.

Another thing to note is that both the iOS and Apple Watch app are now integrated Xamarin apps rather than Swift based apps, keeping it more in line of a single code base... geeky I know :)

November 28, 2019 Facebook Page created!

Today I created a Facebook page to promote my product, however, after reflection I thought I would make the page a portal for helping mothers, fathers and carers to guide them in ways of helping their loved ones to sleep better.

As always, if you have five minutes I would love any feedback :)

November 28, 2019 New Website Redux!

After getting a ton of great advice from my last post, I went back to the drawing board on a few things with the app, logo and website.

Firstly, we changed the colour from a red to a calming blue. This was a great piece of feedback and something that had already been discussed previously.

Secondly, we removed the carousel on the website and focused the look and feel to be more in-line with what the product does. We also incorporated the new colour scheme.

Thirdly the apps have been updated to reflect the changes, plus new features like a "light-switch" button to make the screen go dark which helps with kids sleeping. Will make another post about this when it clears the App Store.

As always I welcome feedback from you all so if you have any please get into contact!

November 15, 2019 New Website!!

I have finally updated the Nap O'Clock website!

http://www.napoclock.com

I would really appreciate if anyone reading this can take five minutes to go and check the updated Nap O'Clock website and give me frank and honest feedback!

the site is mainly a means to find the app from the various app stores, but want to make it look slick and give basic information to users on the suite of products.

November 6, 2019 Alexa Skill certified!!!

This has been quite a while in the making but my first Alexa skill is being published for Nap O’Clock!

This extends the current functionality of Nap O’Clock to iOS, Android, Apple Watch and now Alexa!! Google Home is next but shouldn’t think that will be too difficult!

Congrats! Do you have a plan to monetize? I'm working on something similar (ambient sounds) but for a different target audience.

The iOS and Android apps have ad revenue, however, I don’t make a lot of money from it. The only way to monetise this is to have a subscription model / buy more sounds etc., however, I don’t want it to be too complicated as it would involve signing in potentially and that’s a little frustrating for people I find, especially in Alexa... it’s not really about money for me anyway, more like a way to showcase my skill sets across multiple platforms and environments

Ya makes sense to me! I have agree it's fun just to build it on various platforms, and a great learning experience. Signing can be frustrating for users and to build, so something frictionless will be appreciated by users. Congrats on the certification!

Congrats! I'm guessing you timed it to enter the ISP competition?
Also, did you do any market research before building the skill? If so what did that look like?

    1. 1

Oh wow I didn’t even know about the competition. I know of another idea which could do well with ISPs, might see if I can get something out in time!

Nap O’Clock has been around for years now, but for iOS and Android. It was the first sleep app to integrate Apple Watch as a platform for frictionless control.

Nap O’Clock isn’t the only relaxation medium in the market, not by a long shot, but it’s the only one that is simple to use, works in all platforms and promotes frictionless control without having to sign up etc.,

In Australia there are community and state-run services for early childcare who I have spoken to previously so I will continue down that route. Apart from that looking at early childcare centres as a way to both advertise and educate about the products. I have gone down the route of Google Ads Campaigns previously but that didn't work all that well; I believe I will geet more coverage with a decent website and community engagement to start with.
