May 8, 2019 After "baking", we now have 7 paying customers.

6 months ago, I stopped working on NavHere, it wasn't gaining the traction I was hoping for, and GoDaddy "fixed" the problem we were solving (not without introducing another problem).

But as I was going through my accounting program, I noticed something. There were another 6 payments over the last half year.

This has renewed my interest in continuing the project. It currently loses on average $30/mo, but without me promoting it or doing anything customers are finding their way to it.

November 9, 2018 First Paying Customer!

Only a couple of hours after we launched NavHere, and messaged a few people on a GoDaddy forum, we got our first support email. Austin (the co-founder) was at a conference giving a talk, and I was on the road. I pulled off the road and onto the shoulder to email the potential customer.

After an hour of back and forth emails, and telling the roadside assistance person I didn't need any service, I was able to get the customer up and running.

GoDaddy's DNS wasn't propagating, he lost a couple of DNS records, and the website wasn't as easy to understand, all great takeaways.

After I was able to get him up and running, he paid (even though you get 2 weeks free to try it out), and sent me a sample pack of drink mixes for being so helpful.

It has been a while since I had launched a product, and the first time without a dedicated team to handle emails while I do what product developers do (develop products), so that first exchange was nerve wracking, but so fulfilling.

About

In June 2018, GoDaddy broke how they handled domain forwarding without telling users. They would no longer forward the path in domain forwarding, and every old path would now return a 404. We wanted to fix that!
