Automated Regitra Visit Reservations
I had just recently shared a link to nesnausk.lt on my Facebook feed, to get first impressions from my friends. I kind of felt what was coming when I saw a message from my cousin (who doesn't write for no reason). She said "I did not believe finding a visit spot was so difficult! I'm definitely buying your service, I need to register my new car!".
That was a nice addition to the day for sure. However, I did NOT expect to catch a vacant slot for the next day, and she didn't either! Right after getting the slot she asked me if I could try catching a later time - she still needs to do some paperwork. I happily changed her time, after all - she is my first paying customer! A few hours later, she already had a new reservation 2 weeks from now, just like she wanted.
It's not the fastest growth - and not the highest income either - earned my first €2,5! But it felt really good.
Oh and as a bonus - a friend of a friend made this amazing logo in just 15 minutes for free!
Today I finally have the first working version of nesnausk.lt that customers can use. Landing page - check! Payments integration - check! Analytics - check! Hype - check check!
Back to the basics is super important when building a prototype for your next great idea. I work as a software engineer on medium-sized projects. If I had adopted all the practices that I follow at work, nesnausk.lt will not have taken shape in 5 short days, not by a long shot.
With each change that I made, I questioned myself - do I really need this for my MVP? Is this going to help me launch sooner? Is this going to make my work easier right now? If those answers were "no", then I re-evaluated priorities and shifted my attention to other tasks.
Without thinking of databases and complex integrations, I managed to focus on things that truly matter, that will bring value to my customers. The next step now is getting ready for launch!

In Lithuania, all car owners must register their vehicles in car and driver licensing institution called Regitra. For many services, customers must come to their offices in person and file some documents. The visitation can be reserved in advance (and that was the only way during the pandemic), but the visits are so booked, that it is nearly impossible to find a slot for the next 2 weeks.
I just bought a new car and was getting all the documents ready, when I found out that finding a visit slot is so painful. So I decided to dig a bit and find a way to automate the "catching" process.
However, I was lucky and got a slot on the same day, so the idea got lost. A few days later I told my friend who is working at a car retailer about this idea, and he loved it! It turns out, he needs to register multiple cars during the week and is having a huge problem finding slots for his customers.
And thus, nesnausk.lt was born over a weekend. Ugly, with a tiny amount of features, but it was usable. And my friend was happy too - my one-day-old software managed to catch him a visit slot each day for the whole upcoming week!

I bought a car and had to register it in Regitra. The visit reservations are so full, it's nearly impossible to catch a slot for a visit. I created nesnausk.lt to help people like me to catch vacant Regitra slots.
