June 2020 Soft Launch

So, we said to ourselves that we will have an up-and-running product on June 1st.

We did it. There are still many things to do to make it ready for HackerNews or ProductHunt launch.

Anyway, our subscribers can now try our News API for free, without a credit card. Paid plans are also included.

Time to sell now.

June 13, 2020 100$+ MRR

I am not sure I can call it MRR right now, but as of today, we got 116$ of revenue from subscriptions to our plan. It is our first 2 weeks being up and running.

The best of it is the fact that 3 out of 4 clients came silently. Only 1 client subscribed during the call with me.

We will start directly contacting people from our email list starting next week. So, it is really great to know that it is actually possible to sell without direct contact.

When we began, I thought that our first 100 clients will all be from direct sales.

We hope all of those subscribers stay with us for longer.

May 11, 2020 400 Sign-ups

We got featured on betalist.com yesterday.

Over the past week, we got about 50 new sign-ups.

Our first release after the beta is scheduled for the 1st of June.

Our ultimate plan is to get 1000 sign-ups prior to this date. Plus, having 10 paying customers would be satisfying as well.

May 6, 2020 Interviewed our 1st potential client

Finally, we began to encourage our beta-testers to book online 30 minutes sessions with us.

Today, we had our first call that was longer than 1 hour.

It was great! We were told that we help other indie hackers to create online apps.

We were demoed what was build using Newscatcher API!

Also, we received a verbal confirmation that this potential client will become a paid one when we release our first version.

May 4, 2020 350 Sign-ups

As of today, we got 350 emails in our email list. Everyone has received an API key to participating in our closed beta.

Most of the traffic comes from the free Python package that we released in February and our Medium articles about how we shipped the beta.
