Revolutionizing How We Understand and Visualize the News
After a lot of hard work over the past few months, the Newsphere team has taken the feedback from the beta testing to improve the site. Today, April 20th, we are opening the site up to the public. Once you create your free account you can check out all the cool features the beta testers have been experiencing!
Newsphere placed 2nd out of 9 teams competing in the Heller School Social Enterprise Startup Challenge pitch competition at Brandeis University. The event took place over a 3 day span from October 18-20th. We pitched to a panel of 5 judges from various industries ranging from legal services to financial consultants. As a result of coming in 2nd place, we earned $500 to use towards expanding Newsphere.

As the Newsphere website continued to develop and improve, we started thinking about doing a beta launch, and circled the first day of November on the calendar. With that goal in mind, we developed a simple form that people who are interested in the site can fill out to be part of our beta test group. The form can be found on our website at: https://newsphere.org/signup

We made a post on Hacker News explaining the Newsphere and linking to our demo video and beta launch email list. We were surprised that within 2 days the post had received 50 comments and over 80 points! For those interested in checking out the post, I've linked it here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21234183#21282081
We're really excited to see how many more people sign up for the beta email list in the coming days!

Once Alex started developing his idea for the Newsphere, he wanted it to be official so he set out to make it an LLC. He did so in July in the state of Virginia, and we could not be more thrilled that he did! Since July a tremendous amount of work has gone into the site, with much more work on the way.

Our founder Alex Chang thought there must be a better way to understand current events rather than spending hours reading hundreds of articles. So, he set out to develop a website that made understanding and visualizing the news a much simpler process.
