April 24, 2021 Acquired by WebPros! (cPanel, Plesk, WHMCS...)

Nixstats has been acquired by WebPros. Better known for their webhosting control panel cPanel, Plesk and SolusIO. As well as other related tools such as WHMCS and their SEO tool XOVI.

I will continue working on Nixstats' integrations and additional features under my new role as Head of Monitoring for WebPros. Looking forward to a new exciting time!

I have a website design agency and we host WordPress websites on CPanel. I hope that acquisition won't change how it works

August 8, 2019 Storing over 2TB of logging data

Our free logging beta is gaining more traction. We currently have about 800 users in the beta. This is a pretty complex product and there are still some struggles to go through.

On the busiest day so far we processed over 560 million logs.

Logs are received by rsyslog and then go through our own custom app written in Rust. After that they go through Logstash for parsing and ElasticSearch for final storage.

We use 5 bare metal servers (64GB ram, 2TB NVMe) to keep queries as fast as possible.

Thanks for the heads up but we found out pretty quickly that for ES bare metal is the way to go to guarantee performance.

April 13, 2019 8000 users, ARPU +35%

We reached 8000 users, sign up's still come in without any aggressive marketing.

We send out some e-mail with product updates this year and posted our offer on a couple forum related to Hosting industry.

Our ARPU increased by 35% compared to last year, most of our users are growing as well so they need more servers monitored.

The additional blacklist monitoring also helped increase the ARPU. Planning to launch Log monitoring in Q3 2019 to further increase the ARPU.

January 29, 2019 Introducing Blacklist Monitoring

We now offer blacklist monitoring. Keep track of your IP space health and be notified once your IP's get blacklisted.

This is essential for anyone sending e-mail from their own network. We provide statistics for your IP's as well as some information about delisting.

Blacklisting is an add-on product and starts at $3.75 per month.

Do you do IPv6 RBL monitoring?

    1. 1

This is something we're looking into implementing. I'll send you a PM once we have something ready to test.

The amount of RBL lists that have ipv6 available is pretty small.

      1. 1

        Thank you.
Agreed, IPv6 RBL's are few and also hard to find as lots are running in stealth mode.
How many (IPv4) RBL's are you checking and how often if you don't mind me asking?

        1. 2

We currently check 106 RBL's for IPv4. You can choose your own interval between 2H and 48H.

December 6, 2018 Log Monitoring Beta

Logging data is extremely important to diagnose problems that occur on your servers. We added a logging beta product, we store your logs on our secure platform.

We use ElasticSearch to store the logs which makes it easy to search through your logs.

We also offer a live tail of logging data across all your servers.

During the beta we allow users to send us 10GB of logging data per day and we'll store the logs for 22 days after which they're automatically removed.

May 6, 2018 First client with 500+ servers

We've been scaling our platform to support larger enterprise clients. Today one of our clients reached 500+ servers in their account.

We had quite some development time to keep pages loading fast with this amount of servers. Gathering charts from our API with 500+ servers in a single account now takes < 100ms.

November 8, 2017 Released open source agent

We released our own python based open source monitoring agent. Before this we used a bash style script that ran every minute using cron.

The python agent allowed users to monitor servers across almost all platforms (windows and linux). This also added an option for users to create their own custom monitoring plugins so they could basically monitor anything on their servers.

October 31, 2016 3000 beta users

An additional 2000 signups in just under a year after reaching our first 1000 users. Signups grew significantly since we added our status page feature.

This feature allowed users to share their uptime and server metrics on their own status page. These pages can be white labeled but had a small Nixstats logo on the bottom.

November 6, 2015 First 1000 beta users

Just under 6 months we reached 1000 beta users. We added web monitoring (http/https/tcp/icmp).

We added live chat to collect feedback from our users using Crisp. User base was pretty varied ranging from users with just a single server to users with 100's of servers.

About

I created Nixstats because I wanted to create a monitoring tool that was easy to use and didn't cost an arm and a leg.
