Nod - Reactions for Google Meet
Adding realtime feedback to Google Meet
Was Easter Sunday the best day to do this, absolutely not. But oh well. It's live and now begins the anxious wait and furious sharing on to my limited social media. Probably should have tried harder to get more followers!

Well, I certainly didn't expect this. User numbers doubling every day, Youtube tutorials being made and emails from teachers in Hong Kong, Switzerland and New Zealand. 100,000 active with over 500,000 installs. Nod get a visual upgrade. No more big buttons, time to make it look a bit more google-y!

Nod will always be free, but running it is not, built on AWS websockets my bill is rising! I set up a page at buymeacoffee and today I had my first donation! and I couldn't be happier with it

20,000 users on the first day. Looks like putting a prettier picture really helped! Looks like most of these users are coming from schools? Not sure how they have found it but my email has suddenly filled up. Should probably set up a new inbox for this!

Nod hits the chrome extension store. Mostly just so that the rest of the team can use it but who knows maybe some other people will find this useful. Feedback from the team has been overwhelmingly positive so who knows! Need to add some prettier artwork though!

The first version of Nod was built! Was it going to win any design award? no. Was it ready for production? Absolutely not! Did it do what it needed to? Just about.
Time to deliver this first version to the team and see what they think. Fingers crossed!

Like many, we were suddenly faced with a new remote work environment and I found that when running larger meetings in Google Meet with members muted, it was difficult to gauge real-time feedback as you are speaking.
