Today was the day I sent out my first newsletter. Not much of a milestone but it was no ordinary newsletter. All the links were broken 😂

There was a quirk in some part of a Zapier automation that added "https://zapier.com" to links without "https://".

So a link like "jobs.nolojo.com/stakewithus-product-design-lead" became "https://zapier.com.jobs.nolojo.com/stakewithus-product-design-lead"

Contacted Mailerlite customer support and they were able to rectify the links immediately.

Announced the launch of Nolojo on Facebook. Managed to get my first email subscriber but didn't have any content to send 😂

Been busy researching on a suitable automation flow for emails. Going to try Mailerlite for my ESP and focus on writing a series of emails for welcoming new subscribers.

http://opentoremotework.nolojo.com is a directory for retrenched workers in Asia to list their profiles and get noticed by companies hiring remote workers.

I'll be promoting this platform in my outreach to recruiters and hiring managers. Hoping to connect these job seekers with the right company!

This pandemic has affected everyone in one way or another. Some of you have lost jobs and even businesses. It sucks! Since I couldn’t find work myself and had some free time, I decided to create Nolojo—a job board specifically for remote working opportunities in Asia Pacific.

This pandemic has shown most of us that we don’t need to be trapped in an office for the rest of our lives and I’m on a mission to change the way we work in Asia.

Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I haven't been able to find contract/freelance work. It was tough but I wasn't going to be defeated by the pandemic. I wanted to fight it.

I decided to park my other project (Referling) aside to focus on something else. Something with more meaning.

That's how I came up with the idea of helping retrenched workers in Asia find jobs. Not just any job. A remote job. One that will keep these people free from the shackles of an office cubicle.

I started brainstorming names for a remote job board and that's how Nolojo was born.
