receive email alerts when you can travel again post lockdown
Starting with my most recent update, I added a blog to the website where I host a static version of the email updates. This has been the single biggest change that resulted in an increase in traffic.
Upon launching the blog and sharing the links in 3-5 groups, I generated 3x the traffic of my peak until that point. Signups also increased 1.5x.
Just over a month after launching, we reached our 500 subscriber mark. What's more is that we average between 70-80% open rates and 50% click-through rates.
I've been a growth marketer for about a decade, and I've never seen email strategies perform this well this consistently. The growth of this project is almost 100% organic with little/no effort.

The email updates started to become one giant grey area, because basically all re-openings were being done under conditions. When I started sending some people my shared Google Sheet with all of the news stories, I realized this was where the value was, and others would likely also want to view it.
I made the Google sheet nice looking, and added branding to point to nomadalerts.com so I could still get the subscribers. This turned out to be a wild new growth lever.

I launched nomadalerts.com using a mailchimp/zapier integration with some light email automation. I started paying a virtual assistant to comb through information sources online.
Despite our Product Hunt launch being a bit of a flop, I got 100 subscribers in the first day and knew there were a lot of people looking for this info.

when the world shut down to travel a few months ago, I was stranded quite far from someone I'd very much like to be with. I started paying a VA to scour news stories about countries re-opening again and shared the info.
